Weird warning light? HELP?!?!?
Weird warning light? HELP?!?!?
Driving through the slightly flooded FL roads and something awful happens. I was unaware that the rubber firewall gasket where the steering wheel shaft goes through was loose/off. As I go through this puddle the wave of water rushing through the hole where the gasket should be snug and SOOOAAAKKS my feet, pedals, and carpet. Almost immediately after my green cruise control dash light starters clicking on and off fast and non-stop. I turn the car off and let it sit for a half hour (after trying to dry up some of that water). Everything ran fine for about a minute then the flickering cruise light comes back and keeps flashing.
WTF did I do?

thinking it may be brake related. waited a while, drove it again, no flickering cruise light until I get to my destination 10min away. As I'm braking to stop the car it comes on and flickers. A little while later on the drive back there was no flicker cruise light at all.
I'll check it again tomorrow, see if cruise control functions, and check my brake stuff. thx
YeH - these vehicles (and most other modern vehicles) are filled with electronics. As truly as I can say it, the ONLY thing on these vehicles not controlled by a computer is the lumbar support. I.e., if you adjust your power seat, adjust your mirrors, roll you windows down, lock your doors, turn your signal light on, hit the gas, start the car, open the sunroof, turn your AC on....even down to the windshield wipers...it is all controlled by a brainy network of computer control modules. Fair to say, a little bit of water in the wrong place is going to cause electrical gremlins.
How did the grommet come lose? That's kind of odd...
I'd imagine that warm, dry weather is hard to come by in Florida, but that would be optimal - dry heat to evaporate the water.
Either way - if all is good, then no worries. It's probably already fixed itself. If your problems come back up, I'll be glad to help. I have factory service manual and could probably look and tell you where the connector(s) is/are for the cruise control.
Best of luck.

day 2, problem seems to be gone.
not sure why that grommet was off. ****ing odd.
also ****ing odd (and i posted about it) my front wheel well skirts (splash guards) are missing. Need to find replacements. So tons of **** under my car has been getting splashed with water that probably should have. ****ing great.
