2012 maxima vs older maxima question

Hello im new to the fourms and im looking to do some upgrades after tonights encounter lol. So I was driving on the highway tonight and came across I believe an older 4th generation max, I guess he was modded, he had a loud exhaust and I can tell he was stick shift. Any how, I glently revved at him and he took attention to it, thinking I can easily pass him I was wrong lol, we started at about 50 mph and were neck to neck but after 90mph he just took off! Is this possible im thinking? The older maximas are faster than our 7th gens?? Are there any good modifications that can be added to the 7th gen so I can be ready if I encounter another older max lol.

I feel hands down my 07' maxima is faster than my 11' max. So it can be true and remember if it was a Gen 4, there were many more mods for that car.. He could've had a blower on it.

If he had a 3.5 or a well tuned 3.0, you have no chance.

The 7th gen reduces throttle after about 80ish mph. Even though your foot was planted the throttle was not wide open. Our cars have turned into daily driven appliances with a CVT.

2012 maxima vs older maxima question

Lol to all the postive comments in this thread!! I will say the 4th gen maxima got my respect. I didnt hear any spool sound or whiny supercharger sound, guess he was N/A. That hurts my ego a little more haha. Didnt know my throttle lets off at about 80ish (thanks nissan) thats a bummer, is there a way to modify that?

From 5th gen onwards, as the gens got newer, the maxima got heavier. Your car may have a more powerfull engine, but it's also pulling a heavier body. The 4th gen maxima body is so light that it's even lighter than the 3rd gen it replaced.

I loved my 4th gen. I had a black 1996 GXE...where I got my screen name. That puppy had over 230k miles when it was totaled while parked on the street . Very reliable & fun car....even more so with some mods .

Really liked my 3rd gen as well.
