Serious Question. Anyone not feeling the 8th gen Maxima?

I may be the only one but, is there anyone else out there that's not feeling the 8th gen Max???? The Max has always had a unique style and look apart from the other nissan models. Now they all look the same. OR is it just me?

8th gen front end is cool but back end and back side view looks a little goofy. Seems like it comes up making it look not sleek from those views. It's smaller inside too. I don't buy all new with the car. Seems more like a new shell over a lot of the 7th gen parts. Don't get me wrong it is really nice and I really like it over all but some things I didn't care for. That said the 7th gen had to grow on me for a while too!

Other than the Z, I think the entire new Nissan lineup is unattractive at best. In a day and age like now I can't believe they don't try any harder.
I like my car a lot trust me ( obviously the thousands of dollars of modifications helps) but at this rate I'll never own another Nissan. An old 240 would kick *** to have tho.

Maxima and altima are almost twins! Not enough distinction between them. I've driven both and I like mine better except handling. The newer ones are much better in that department.

I'll probably keep my 7th until I can find a used model 3. Probably 2019. I don't see a reason to stick w ICE. Even if gas prices drop to a dollar. I don't like how you have to get the platinum model to get all the tech features which come on lower class cars(Hyundais). I don't like how they try to keep Auto roll down windows a feature even though it's been out since the 1940. They gotta step their tech game up! If i was in the market for a new car I would never get one without active cruise control and I would never get a glass roof due to golf ***** and florida weather.

Those model 3's are pretty nice and apparently even the lower model that starts at $35k is nicely loaded and pretty quick. I saw that they already have 115,000 pre orders. Yeah man with this crazy florida weather im always worried about my sunroof i couldnt imagine with the glass roof.

Agreed ... I don't care for whatever's going on in the design departments of most, if not all, car makers these days.

I want my car to look like a car, not a form of newly discovered aquatic life.

I also don't care for grille-work that approaches the size of the HDTV I've got mounted on the wall of my family room ... anyone know what a cattle-catcher is? ... what's up with that sh*t!?

Im happy to see that I am not the only one. I agree the interior is very nice. the rear end is very plain, and the front end looks tacky. The side view is the best. The lines are impressive. When I went to the car show, I kept going back to the maxima hoping it will start looking better. Very disappointed. Im starting to like the genesis. that car is growing on me.

I love the GTR. If I ever have a spare 100k sitting around I would get one for sure.

I think the 7th looks way more aggressive, but the 8th is still a nice car.

I have seen more and more of the Genesis's on the road and damn it really is a nice looking car. The interior is on point and the engine options are great as well with that 5.0 very enticing.

That whole rear end just looks like a shelf, all hunchback of Nortre Dame. Otherwise, I want that interior also!

I hate the 8th gen. The front is hideous. Love the interior though. Saw one on the highway with my wife who is NOT a car girl and she said why did the change it. She likes her 7th gen better. Will wait for the 9th gen to ever buy again??????

I work at Nissan. I currently drive a 7th gen max, but I fell in love with the 8th gen. Its technologies, its look, everything about the vehicle is just beautiful to me. I definitely want to upgrade but that just comes at a price. The zero-gravity seats they have on the interior are AMAZING. Definitely a must-buy, but that's my opinion.

I watched this and fell in love but I'm more than happy to stay with my 7th. Still think it's the best looking car on the road.

Not feeling it.

I'm not feeling the 8th gen either. It looks like a cross between a mini van and station wagon. Nissan lost me as a repeat buyer.

For the first time in years, I really don't know what my next car will be. Other than the Z which is too small, and the GTR (too expensive). I'm not feeling any other Nissan vehicle.

I feel your pain! I too am in the same boat. I am seriously considering a Dodge Charger RT Scat Pack or possibly the Charger SRT 392. The Scat Pack is only slightly more than a fully loaded maxima but has 485hp and is badass!!

I'm not a fan either. In Black or silver it helps the grill some which I really hate. The back is also very plain.

The Q50 though...

I think the one thing that turned me off is that the Max was always separate from the other Nissan models. never looked the same. Slowly they started making them look alike. They lost me with this one. I'm with you on the "Z" and the "GTR", only models i like. I've been looking in to the genesis. Never been a fan of Hyundai, but that is a sharp looking car.

Wife has a 5.0 RSpec. Pretty sweet, lots of tech stuff awesome interior, and very powerful. I was also not a fan initially but she's owned both (coupe and sedan) and both have impressed needless to say.

I like the 7th gen and 8th gen. I think they should have mated the 7th gen rear to the 8th gens rest of he body. Nissan seems to get some thing right but others wrong which discount it from me buying another one. Love the 370Z, but that *** is still hideous. New Titan, fantastic drivetrain in either flavor (gas or diesel) horrific front end.

I don't mind the new Altima. The new Sentra, awesome looking little commuter car, but terrifyingly gutless power plant options. The other line-up doesn't pertain to me (Versa etc).

I'd sell a kidney, spleen, and lung for a GTR.

I'm assuming it will grow on you. I got my 95 Maxima in 2000, man I could not stand the 5tth gen max, hated it with a passion. Now I have an 03 and love it, although, the differences in looks between the 00-01 and 02/3 are significant enough for me to say that I still am not that fond of 00/01’s. Same goes for the 04-06, ugly as hell cand you can’t fix ugly, but an 07/-08, tastefully modded looks good IMO.

There's a part of me that likes it character. Cars today just don't have the character that they had in the 50s-60s, and maybe early 70s. Props to Nissan for giving the 8th gen character. BUT..... I have a feeling that the styling will become dated rather quickly. IMO, previous gen 1-5, and 7 have a design that will be appealing for years to come. Just not sure about the gen 8.

I am with you. It looks like an Avalon, an Accord, a Camry, and a Sonata.
The cars mentioned all have similar design especially the back.
BUT I did not like the 8th gen Maxima until I saw it in all black. That for some reason looked BOSS.

Give me the 8th gen interior with the 7th gen exterior. Gentlemen, I give you Maxima 7.5 gen hahah. Also my biggest complaint, why no sunroof + sport package?? Yes I know Nissan say its for handling but come on!

I really wanted to like it, but damn it is such a strange looking car. They tried to do too many things with it and it came out looking like a Murano that got sat on. Rear looks plain and actually can be confused for a dozen other cars now. Front looks okay minus the bucktooth grill, and side has weird body lines on it. Interior is nice, but all 2015+ cars have nice interiors now. So very disappointed they put another CVT in it as the only drivetrain option. Nissan isn't getting it.

+1

The rear is very disappointing; the new Accord, which isn't even in the same class as the Maxima, has a better, more luxurious looking rear than the Maxima! And it's not even close! I think we can all agree the interior is exceptional. The jury is still out for me on the front and the side views; I see some I like and I see others I don't, so...
