Is it the wheel bearing?

2012, 125k

A few days ago, I started noticing a grinding noise coming from the front right. It really sounds like a grinding pad, but I just checked and the pads are still good. I'm thinking it may be a bad wheel bearing. The weird thing is I can only hear it in the cab while driving. It doesn't sound any worse with the windows down. I do feel a little noise in the sterrring wheel and brake pedal while driving but it's not horrible. Any thoughts?

If it is the bearing, how difficult is it to change? Thanks!

Check for a compromise axle boot. If grease under wheel housing then you need to replace axle. Check tires for coping or unusual thread wear. My mothers car had a rough sound to find out the tires were worn on the inside.

Jack up front and spin tires to also see if sound appear.

Let us know what you find out.

This is interesting, I too have noticed a grinding sound, like worn brake pads. I noticed it after I had to replace a tire with a used tired. I am in the process of having my previous tire repaired due to a puncture.

I went ahead and ordered new rotors and pads, but I definitely need it.

I hope you can figure the issue.
