The turbo kept blowing up CVT's so we had to do something. So we did a thing.

admittedly there is a LOT more activity on Facebook regarding this build, but I had to post about it here too since it's the old stomping ground.

Ha, that's RWD. The chassis modifications you're looking at to convert this car to RWD are easily double the cost of everything I've ever done to my car.

The LS4 is a FWD motor. Impala SS and Grand prix GXP along with a few other GM nose heavies come with them. Basically the 5.3L block with the mounts relocated similar to what Nissan does with the VQ.

Oh, didn't know that. Saw LS and figured RWD.

I just did this project all in the wrong order, and went to the wrong shops until I sent the car to Darren. If we had done 6 speed swap first and boosted later it'd have saved a lot of headache and money. At this point in my build I was doing 6 speed swap because it would have been almost as expensive to go back to stock (including purchasing sold/modified stock parts) so was just focusing on replacing the part that kept breaking (drivetrain).

yea the LS4 is not a commonly known motor. HOWEVER, Swapping one into a maxima.....by the time somebody is done doing that. Just buy a car that came with an LS or buy a 240 and put an LS in it. The VQ can make so much power when it comes to adding boost. Swapping the LS is doable but its just not worth the time and effort in this platform.

Anyway, happy to see this actually worked what is done to the ECU, any changes needed? Some trickery with the resistors n stuff?

Well Done!

i am new to the maxima family as i just got rid of my bmw and bought my 7th gen Maxima. Would love to swap out to a 6 speed manual as that is what my bmw was. as far as power adder i think i want to super charge. i like the turbo charging but i have been there and done that.

Now that's how you make an OEM swap. Contact Nisformance for any questions.
