wierd transmission jerk on shifting from N to D, helppppp!!!!!!
hey guys , am new to the forum , happy to see theres a lot of maxima owners here , finally i found a place to clear all my queiries ,
firstly
1) wierd jerk on shiftin from P TO D , the car jerks a bit on shifting , its big enough to notice ,
* note - i recently changed my motor mounts inorder to sort ths issue , but sadly it still stays .
2) a whining noise under hard acceleration, d noise starts coming only when redlining on full throttle sounds lik a pulley or smtn , again cant sort ths issur
i own a 2010 maxima , done 150, 000kms
full service from agency
i hope i can resolve ths matter here , thanks guys

A couple of questions
1. If you bought it used how many miles have you put on it.
2. Do you know what the mileage was when the CVT oil was changed?
3. Do you get the jerking and the whining noise when you accelerate normally like a little over 1/3 throttle?

haii richard , thanks for the reply.
1)Yes, i bot it used , its done 150,000kms ie 94000 miles approx,
2)The car has been agency serviced by the first owner hence i belv the transmission fluid has been changed on time not sure, ill defnitly get tht checked up,
3)I get the jerking only when shifting the car from park to drive , the car accelerates smoothly , i get the whining noise only when i push it real hard , it starts to whine above 5k rpm to redline (under full throttle ,with kick down switch)
I also have noticed i can feel vibrations( minimal) all over the car while idling in d , (mostly when the ac is on ) as soon as i push it to neutral the car jerks a bit and the vibrations fade . i was hoping it was the motor mounts, i juz changed thm strday , there is a slight improvement still the issue remains.

hey guys quick update , i took my car to the agency spoke with one of the service guys , wat he told me was cvt transmission fluid does not require a drain n flush, its a lifetime oil or smtng and does not require periodic changes!!!!!! showed him d jerk i had , he mentioned its normal wid 3.5 altimas and maximas , does any of the above make sense ??? can sm1 tell me if ur car jerks even a little on shiftin from park to d??? the agency guy was like no worries "its a cvt thingy"!!!!

Take it to a different Nissan mechanic. And then, armed with your owner's manual, report the incompetence of the "Service Guy" to the manager of your agency.
Re the Jerk from N to D, depends on the RPMs, AC, etc but in 370,000 miles on my 09, I have never had that occur unless my foot slipped to the accelerator (big feet)
Define "jerk"...if it is simply a slight bump or delay only when shifting into and out of R or D, and not once in motion, that is normal. And yes, this tranny really likes new NS-2, so it could probably use a drain and fill anyways...don't flush.
@ tbm5690 exactly a slight bump whn shiftin in and out of R and D , d bump is powerfull engh to let u knw you cars in D , So i guess its normal with the maximas , i do have a nissan pathfinder 05 model wid d same vq35 engine clocked 300,000 kms , on shiftin from p to d , there is like "0" movement , thts wat got me worried in the first place .
