Timing Diagram Wrong, Vq35hr?
Timing Diagram Wrong, Vq35hr?
I need help. I'm diving into my timing system for the 2010 Max S. When I go directly to Nissans website or anyone else's for that matter, it shows a diagram of the timing cover (cool). The diagram for a 2010 Max shows two camshaft intake solenoids, attached the main cover, one on each side. The problem is mine also has what appears to be two exhaust solenoids protruding from the same cover. Here's the kicker, the only car I could find that on is a 350Z or anything else with a RWD VQ35HR!?
No, the diagram isn't wrong. All 2009+ Maxima's have variable can timing on the intake and exhaust. https://parts.nissanusa.com/nissanpa...3441&siteid=14
If you're going to do the tensioner, do yourself a huge favor and replace the oil gallery gaskets. http://www.nisformance.com/EPS-Tunin...rykitfwdhr.htm

I wouldn't bother with the guides or the chains.
Don't forget to get all the necessary gaskets and seals.

Timing chains don't require same maintenance as timing belts, aka regular interval replacement.
That is not the same as not serviceable. Timing chains are not perfect and do wear out/stretch, as well as guides wear out/fail, or tensioners.
The difference is that its a much harder to service item.
OP, good luck getting it done, are you pulling the engine or going to do it in place? Besides limited access, the next hardest thing gotta be resealing the timing chain covers without inducing leaks.
