Is this true about this oil?

So after always paying so much for oil changes, a couple of months ago I decided to change my own oil and I ended up buying the Mobil 1 advanced full synthetic and on the back it says that apparently it will last 15,000 miles and the filter that I bought it said it will last 20,000 miles. Whenever I got my oil changed at the dealership I am not sure what oil they used but they always recommended changing it every 5000 miles. Is it true that the oil I bought is good for 15,000? I am not sure I believe that. I have driven 4500 miles with it so far and I think I am about to change it when I hit 5000 but I wanted to ask your opinion too. Thanks.

So here is the thing, thermal breakdown of oil is going to happen! with that said synthetic is a better choice and will last quite a bit longer, Even dyno oil will last longer then 5000 miles it is just the safe side of the ladder, If you are running synthetic and change it earlier then the recommended time you waste your money! Nissan oil is bulk oil and is dyno oil unless you ask for synthetic then even they will say I believe only 7500 miles So decision for you is if you are under warranty do not go over 7500 you will void it. If you are not it is up to you!

Go to the Mobil 1 website and see for yourself what this oil is about. Look at the warranty ExxonMobil
provides for the oil and filter, and make your own decision.

Are you sure you are talking about Mobil 1 Advanced Full Synthetic or Mobil 1 Extended?

I have not seen Mobil 1 Advanced Full Synthetic advertised at 15,000 miles.

Regardless, now having 366,000 miles on my 7th gen, using Mobil One Advanced Full Synthetic and a M108 or now M108a filter every 5000 miles is my normal and really wouldn't consider 15,000 but then, you have to make up your own mind.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance is guaranteed for 15000 miles and or 12 months, which ever comes first.

Oh wow I feel so dumb right now. Yes you are right. I do have the advanced full synthetic and no they do not advertise it at 15,000 miles. I got confused because I was looking at the back where they compare the different types, but the one that lasts 15,000 is the extended performance which is NOT the one that I have. Well at least I'm glad I figured that out before I went over the 5,000 miles. Thanks everyone.

You could always use Blackstone labs to analyze your oil, they'll let you know in depth about your oil life between oil changes.

been doing Mobil1 5w30 EP since new and change oil every 7.5k miles. Thats as far as I am willing to go without investing in Blackstone reports, but that can open up a whole other can of warms I don't need to worry about.
