All,

Looking at used Maximas and came across a very nice 2014 Maxima SV at a local BMW dealership. Only 34k on it. I mean, it's practically flawless.

In looking at the pictures on the dealer website, I saw something odd. On the trunk on the passenger side where you'd expect to see the S or SV badging, there's a Type R badge. Huh? I didn't think that was a Nissan thing.

So, I go look at the car and It's got Nismo side badges on the front fenders. Looks factory but after Googling and looking through forums, I can't find anything on whether this is legit or not.

Here's a link to the ad. Blowing the pics up helps a little, but you can see the badges I'm referring to.

I know it won't show up on a VIN check (Shows SV) but is it possible this was some sort of special order?

Any idea what could have come with this other than just badges? I did find that these rims are considered Nismo rims. It's just weird.

No such thing as Nismo Maxima or Type R Maxima

Thanks.

If I end up getting it, I'm going to make them take the Type R badge off of the back. Possibly the Nismo badges too, but I don't mind those as much.

Update:

I got the car. I had them remove the Type R and Nismo badges. Loving it so far!

At best, it is a Maxima Sport which you have purchased. Keep your ear our for a super charge type sound coming from the CVT after warm up and on wide open throttle. I just had the tranny replaced under warranty the other day. They duplicated the problem, discussed with Nissan and determined it was bad bearings? What ev, I'm glad its gone and I have a new tranny. I have a 14 Sport with 29k miles

Thanks all.

2Soonjr, supercharge sound as in a high pitched gear whine? I'll keep an eye on it.

I footed for an extended warranty up to 4 years and 75k for peace of mind.

I'm off to search for the most common performance upgrades, etc...

lol...some people.
A local Ford Crown Victoria has a 'GT-R' badge on it.

Seriously.

Yeah. Stupid. It just didn't make any sense to me because the car was so well cared for.

All better now though.

I'd agree with 2soonjr. I just picked up a 2014 SV with the Sport package and those wheels look just like mine (strangely enough). Some bozo likely thought he was being cute and put goofy badging on there.
