Opinions on the Bose audio system

I'm looking at buying a 2014 maxima and was wondering if I should consider a car that is not equipped with the Bose system.

For those of you that have it, is it worth it? Or can I just upgrade to aftermarket speakers. I will be adding amp&subs as well. Ive heard both good and bad things about it so I figured I is ask.

thanks!

I have a 2014 sv with tech and sport. The bose is enough for me, however if you are planning on adding amps and subs in addition, it might be wasting money getting the bose system one.

The Bose sounds good, but I don't think it is amazing. If that was the only factor in picking a maxima I wouldn't worry about it not having it. Particularly if you are going to be upgrading the system yourself.

If you plan on getting one, get it for the features you're going to use. Sounds like no matter what you're going to dump the factory system for aftermarket. So get the features that make sense. The base model doesn't have HIDs, but the upper models do. That for me is how I would start the look. Then leather vs cloth, Nav, things like that. Bottom line, the difference between a loaded 2014 and a base model now (if equal condition and mileage) is probably $1000. It's not like when it was new and there was $5000-8000 difference. I always say if you're buying used, get all the bells\ top model. You'll regret it as soon as you see what you could have gotten.

I just bought a 2014 Maxima with tech and sport package that has Bose system. I looked up 2014 factory brochure, and if you get a car with the "sport package", the Bose system is part of that package in 2014. Not sure of other years.

All my Bose systems have been lackluster except my 96 Infiniti I30s. That thing used to KNOCK. That's back when Bose had amps on each individual speaker.

I tapped the wires in my M35S and added a JL sub as well as Infinity Reference tweets, made a world of difference.
