STRANGE Nosie during startup

Anyone know what this sound is? Only happens during cold starts. No failure lights or any noticeable mechanical failure.

Nissan Dealership couldn't figure it out.

Here's a YouTube video of it.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the mixing/blend door motor. You will notice if you turn the heat up or down (especially first thing in the am) you will hear this as the motor and gears start to go. My 09 just started that recently as well. Kind of surprised the Nissan Techs didn't recognize this or maybe they couldn't hear it that well.

Mine is also doing it...it is the blend door motor as stated by LtLeary or your steering wheel power motor spinning from broken plastic gears inside (which seems to be a very very common thing on these). If the steering wheel adjustment isn't working you can can go into setting on the dash and turn off the steering wheel "auto adjustment" so it won't make the noise anymore at start up.

Thanks for your replies. I sent the service manager the video so he can show the tech and they still couldn't figure it out. I don't have power steering wheel so it maybe the blend door motor. Makes sense since it only tends to happen during colder mornings.

I own an 09 sv sport with the same issue. Bought the motor and tried to replace it myself but too difficult to do it. It’s above the gas pedal and hands don’t fit in. If anyone knows any other way to replace please chime in. Thanx

my mechanic wants $100-$150 to fix it. I may take him up on that offer cause that noise is annoying.
