2009 Nissan Maxima SV Air Conditioning Mode Question

Yesterday I replaced the blower motor in my car and all works well but I can't seem to remember that if when the AC is set to Auto if the mode for which vents the air comes out of can be set to bottom and top. At the moment when I set the AC to Auto the air can only come out the bottom vents. If I switch mode to top and bottom the AC automatically goes into Manual mode. I don't remember this behavior in the past so if anyone can confirm this is normal let me know!

In AUTO mode, you only control the temp, not the vents. Once you select either a fan speed, or vent selection, it goes into manual mode.

Depends on the temp that is set...warm air should default to the floor vents, and the system should default cooler air to the upper vents.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I didn't mess anything up after all.

A side question please: does manual mode (no light on A/C button) still mean the A/C compressor is on?

No, if the light isn't on (unless it is burnt out) the AC is not on either.

That exactly answers my question. Light works if I push it on.
Thanks.

It's a real easy fix. Basically you remove the glove box (8 screws), and then the small side panel that is between the glove box and passenger door. Then you remove the harness and screws from the blower motor, install new one and put everything back. I did it all during my lunch break with time to spare.
