Thinking of upgrading my breaks, but still have oem wheels does anyone have a big break kit with oem wheels, do you have fitment issues?

brakes>breaks

And why do you feel the need to upgrade your brakes to a BBK? Maybe you just need different pads to suit your needs.

My main purpose for them is I hear they last longer and perform better than regular breaks, wanted to make the upgrade if they last longer

They WILL NOT clear the caliper if you're using the OE sports rims. You WILL need 20mm spacers to clear if you have these rims and want to clear.

Where can I get good spacers at I’ve been warned about the dangers of running cheap spacers

from Amazon and so far they've held up very well. Still feels stable around corners. Made of forged aluminum, stronger than normal cast metal.

I got mine from z1motorsports. If you look at my build thread I also got extended lugs. The main reason spacers fail are either because of cheap quality, spacers too wide and lug nuts not being threaded enough. The general rule is that lug nuts are supposed to be able to thread the lug the same amount as the width of the stud. For me that would’ve been 4-5 turns of the lug before the oem lug nuts bottomed out. I didn’t feel comfortable with that. With the extended lug nuts I got about 20-30 turns. Better safe then sorry

I went with a powerstop z23 kit that would fit like oem, No muss no fuss and better than oem braking.

Best brakes I ever had were ebc rotors with ebc red stuff pads. It was very expensive but the absolute best brakes I ever had hands down. My 08 max stopped better then my current max with the akebonos.

VeeQue, you have big brakes on your car but why are you still using the stock or stock looking rotors? X-drilled, slotted rotors would give you better performance. Also, your jack stand placement is totally wrong as evidenced by the crease it made on your lower valance. It needs to be placed further under the car under the suspension components and should be raised up a few more notches as well.

The other part of the equation is your master cylinder. It has to be up for the change in hydraulics volume downstream.

I don't track my car so I don't need slotted / drilled rotors. I just wanted extra stopping power plus the fact that almost no one does a BBK on Maxima's here (where I live), makes mine more unique. The jack stands are on the pinch welds where you'd normally put a stand. Not sure what you mean by crease on lower valence since that's the natural curve of the car...

I'm sure the stock brake master cylinder is enough for a BBK on the Maxima. If you look at GVWR on the Maxima, it's 4698 lbs; whereas a G37 coupe is 4656 lbs and 370Z is 4112 lbs, both cars which use that same caliper system as a sports / Nismo option. The Maxima is heavier than either car with the stock setup so the stock brakes can handle stopping over 4698 lbs. I don't think flow will be an issue.

Master cylinders are .937 bore for maximas vs Nissan brembo models with a 1.0 bore.

I think if you want to track your maxima (you shouldn’t) or need constantly braking from high speeds all the time you might want to consider the master cylinder. If not,if just normal everyday driving with occasional high speed braking coming off the exit ramp, then the one in the maxima is plenty sufficient. I’ll be honest,I went with the akebono big brakes for the looks first. Braking was an afterthought. Nothing wrong with the oem brakes.

I doubt you'd feel the difference of 0.063 and the biggest help to BBK with feel and reaction would be the lines. I have the steel braided Goodridge lines but they aren't shown in the pictures.
