Hello,

I have a 2011 Nissan Maxima tech package. I have 140k miles on it, the S mode stops working after about 30 minutes of driving. Does anyone know why or have any insight into this?

Has the transmission (CVT) fluid been changed? I think mine will revert back to normal in a while too if I am just driving non-enthusiastically. I flip it to D and back to S and its responsive and steps ratios like a conventional auto.

It's a weird issue, when I drive more than 30 minutes S mode does not work at all. Drive mode is fine, manual works, but S mode will not activate. Could this be a bad relay or fuse?

More than likely, after that long your cvt temps are up. I agree with Bificus99, you really need to look at the maintenance of your CVT. Re bad fuse. They are either good or bad but don't swap states ***** nilly. A relay? Perhaps but it would be commanded on or off from the main cpu. your best bet is the cvt maintenance. If your valve body isn't already jacked up that is.
