Leaking strut ?

I had my 2010 inspected, it passed but I was told my one strut is leaking and I should get it replaced soon but it passes inspection. Always skeptical about mechanics but I have 159k miles . Is this something that is recommended to replace and should I do both of them ?

If it is leaking, then you should change it out. If you can afford doing both, then that would be, considering you have 159k on car, advisable as well. The non-leaking one is probably worn out as well, just not leaking.

Agreed, get the front struts replaced and the rear shocks can be done in an hour or so with basic hand tools. Parts from Rock Auto are affordable.

I recently went to get an alignment on my 09 SV sport package and the guy said he couldn't do an alignment on my car until I did A,B and C. One of which was getting new struts. So after I left the shop my front passenger strut started making this clanking noise. Wasn't making that noise before he jacked it up. My question is which struts would you guys recommend I get? He quoted me Macpherson quick struts that were about $275 a piece. I don't really want to pay that much but I'm not trying to cheap out. Is there any middle ground?

Yeah, that is a bit much, though that depends on where you live and the going hourly rate for a shop. I suspect he wants to install a strut/spring/strut mount assembly package.

I have KYBs on my 07. I put them on myself. They run between $40-$50 each.

Non sport Maximas should look at the Monroe Struts. KYB is good as well, I have them on my 280z. OEM are Sachs, I would not put Nissan struts on there are better dampers at better prices out there.

A strut can leak at any time. During Inspection what is checked is that it is not locked up which can happen Over Time with a empty Shock. The leak can pass. I see them daily. My suggestion is to order them online and replace them all even in the rear. Have it aligned and keep the tires rotated. Monroe quick struts are Decent. Ive installed a few sets and have had no issues..

Hmm..a wee bit complicated. Looks like the Sport package factory numbers are E4302-9DA0A and E4303-9DA0A.

I have no idea what the aftermarket equivalent would be, say at https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...ion,strut,7584

Hopefully someone has changed theirs out and can give you some direction which ones you can buy for the sport package.
