Maxima Loss of Power

Charged battery until fully charged. The voltage read roughly 12.00 volts. I started the car while the car was running it was putting out over 14.00 volts. I never turned the car off. Left it in a normal idle state. I dont turn on anything. Voltage is constantly being checked. It was now only putting out a little over 11.00 volts. After about 10-15 minutes cars voltage drops to roughly 7 volts. The battery light, ABS light, and traction control light turn on. Car begins to sputter as if losing power then it eventually dies. After that the voltage is below 7 volts. Fully charging the battery and doing it again will repeat the same results.

Battery Is new. Less than 1 month old. Have replaced the alternator twice in the last 2 years. The 2nd alternator was dealership replaced. Car doesnt register any codes while doing this.

Anyone experience this scenario?

Ray

Sounds to me your alternator is bad or the alternator wiring or connections are bad . Think back to the first time you replaced the alternator, what was the reason?

1st time was a little over a year ago. Alternator was replaced because it was failing. i pirchased the alternator at AZ and took it to a mechanic replace it.

2nd time was recently. It was replaced because of this current issue and the dealership couldnt figure out what was wrong so they suggested we start there.

Issue continued after. Then I replaced the battery because that was the next thing. Now I'm attempting to figure it out because I'm already over 1300.00 into it. Through mechanics and the dealership.

Where did the second alternator come from? Was it new or rebuilt?

Dealership replaced it. I assume it's rebuilt.

Is there any warranty on the dealership installed alternator?

No solution yet. I thought it may be a grounding issue but I grounded the negative cable and it still does it. What have you tried so far??

Have you looked into this? Have you checked the cable between the alternator and the battery? It might need replacement.

I'm actually trying to find the cable. It's something like the EGI harness or something like that. I believe it runs around 1k. But I'm looking for it at pick and pulls and junkyards. Anyone have any info on the exact cable name or if I'm correct in the name?
