I bought the vline GROM unit a few weeks ago on a group buy, should be coming soon. I'll try to make a post once I install. It's pretty pricey but seems to be the best OEM-like option. Uses stock screen, keeps steering wheel controls, wireless Carplay, freedom to add accessories & freedom to switch back to stock screen. I believe you can do wired carplay too from the factory usb port but don't quote me. This is a review on a similar unit:

There are also some tesla style screens I've seen on Aliexpress but I've heard finding the right unit for your car can be a pain.

Got the VLINE unit. Pretty easy installation, plug and play. It's convenient, the Carplay works smoothly and can be done via Bluetooth or wired (a lot of new cars today can still only do wired carplay). The unit turns your stock screen into an Android tablet, so you can download any app on the Google play store (prime video, youtube, hulu, hbo max, etc) and APK files of other apps via USB. Unit comes with a GPS antennae & mic so you can really replace all the outdated 2009 tech features in the car with it.

Is it worth the $700 price tag? I don't think so but I'm still exploring. I've been trying to find a smooth way for it to connect to the internet with my phone but haven't been successful yet. Kinda frustrated with their customer service but it's still new so I'm giving it a chance. The steering wheel controls aren't fully integrated like they advertise (can't use the enter button on the steering wheel & the up down switch only changes songs, doesn't move through menus). I do feel like I "lost" some small features (I have to interact with the touchscreen more now & take my eyes off the road since the steering wheel controls don't do as much). Using your iPhone as an iPod via USB and installing a $30 firestick seem to yield similar results, though carplay is a nice feature and the playstore offers a lot of potential. I plan to hook up a Bluetooth obd2 scanner to the Vline and see if I can get some diagnostic reading apps downloaded. It'd be cool to read things like trans/engine temps and 0-60 times straight from the headunit.
