CNA Service Contract for CVT but what else?

Hey everyone!

Loving my 2014 Maxima. Just hit 11800 miles and the car rides perfect. With that said the CVT worries me so i may get a service contract with CNA. Also i am looking into this option because i have the option to purchase at cost.

Here is the link

They have multiple coverages options but all cover the CVT. Might go with the Basic service but wanted to see what are other common parts that tend to go on these 7th gen Maximas.

Don’t waste your money! I would rather put that money your spending on that into emergency fund in case you need it for repairs! The odds are in your favor that you won’t need cvt replacement. That’s how the companies make money, more customers don’t end up getting repairs that exceed the money they put into it! I would rather just maintain your car with regular cvt fluid changes and don’t drive like a race car driver!

I second that opinion, I paid $3k for the Platinum extended warranty on my current Maxima, 2010 SV and tried to use it on my not fully closing sunroof. I had exactly 8 months and 300 miles left before it would have expired. I started the $6k claim in California and my job transferred me back to Missouri and of course I was over the mileage from the drive, the Missouri office promptly denied my claim on a $6k dollar repair.

Turns out the system just had to be reprogrammed and my car was ok, I even asked about possibly having it re-programed because of a post from someone here, but the California dealership insisted that the full glass roof on my car needed to be replaced.

The lesson I learned; never buy an extended warranty, now I have a car fund account that I've been putting $50 to $100 bucks in every paycheck since 2015. I use it for anything car related on all our vehicles, and now I have a couple thousand dollars in it and haven't had any major breakdowns where I needed to spend more than $300 dollars besides new tires. Start a car fund, it's far better than any extended warranty.
