New 2016 SV

Just washed her today figured I'd throw up some pics...

Only mods so far are tinting the windows 5% banner front wind shield and 20% all around.

I changed out the headlights/fogs to 6000K 35W HIDS. I changed the H16 fog light bulbs to H11 bulbs and they fit with no issues. Also when changing fogs the 15A fuse will blow so I upped it to a 20A fuse and all is just fine. So if your thinking of changing to HIDS there are a few pointers for ya!

Next mods will be rear window lip, lowering springs when they become available, and some wheels... might go staggered still up in the air.

Let me know what you think!

This might be the first silver one posted. Looks beautiful. Some dark wheels on that thing would offer a nice contrast. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing such high quality photos.

I just noticed the "Maxima" is missing on the rear. Did you remove it?

I have been looking for a silver Platinum, but they are hard to find. None near me. In fact, the nearest silver Platinum equipped with the options I want does not exist in the U.S. (I searched the entire country). The closest fit is in Memphis, which is a long way from middle Georgia. There is a fairly close one in Macon GA which I may buy and have my dealer install the additional things I want.

NICE PHOTOS of a beautiful car. I'll bet you are proud of that beauty.

Nice effort on the lamp switchout (new word). I hope that the other electrical components associated with the fog lamps will support the extra few amps needed besides the fuse.

How much pain was it to switch out the bulbs?

Yes I did remove it... Was going to remove the SV also, still up in the air. Might do so once I install rear window lip.

According to the fuse box layout the fuse is solely for the fogs.

Changing them out its a tight area to work with on passenger side. Plan on your arms getting a little scratched up. Driver side was a breeze. Total time I'd say 20-30 mins all in. That's with me going thru the 2 blown fuses.

CONGRATS on the car. Thanks for the extra info on the HID. Looking into changing out the bulbs on the fogs myself. Where did you purchase the bulbs and the 20A fuse?

Thank you!

On the driver side underneath the trunk button there is a fuse panel with spare fuses along the bottom row. 1x of 5A 10A 15A & 20A. But you can also pick up at your local auto parts store. I got the bulbs off of amazon. PM me and I can give you the brand. Hope this helps.

LOTH--you don't seem to be in a rush. Why not have them build one to your specs? 8 week lead time, I hear.

That is one of the options I listed in a seven point email I sent to a very good friend who happens to be the service manager at my dealer. She was my writeup technician at my other dealership for seven years, before being promoted to service manager at my dealer's new dealership. She knows car better than any writeup tech I have had in over sixty-five years of driving.

She is compiling a price list for adding four different options that are normally factory installed. I have also asked for exactly how that dealer handles the Friends and Family of Nissan Discount papers (Is this too early for new gen? Can car be from another dealership? Can it be used for a factory ordered car? etc, etc). I am also trading in a dingless perfect creampuff 7th gen Premium with Tech and other mods I added, and asking a premium price.

Also, Silver is one of the rarer colors being sent out to dealers in the southeast.

And the elephant in the room? My wife and I are moving for the first time in 25 years, and are downsizing. A lot tougher than we thought. I have let go of almost thirty shirts, etc. We have to make the 7 acre landscaped country place we are leaving really perfect in order to get top dollar. The person leaving the home we are buying has every foot of that 3200 square foot home jammed with furniture and antiques from all over the world. She won't have everything out before mid-August, but we are already taking measurements and trying to plan where everything will go. This move is going to take us several months, as we will be scrubbing the new home and replacing the few carpets left with hardwood floors. Lots of little things like 12 locks to have rekeyed, two phone lines to transfer, re-register our alarm system, pay the homeowners' membership fee and Association monthly payment, transfer the newspaper delivery and a thousand other things.

Lot to consider.

Update

Had the dealer disconnect the rear window brake light for that clean and non-overwhelming look.

Just got the wheels back from being powder coated. Wheels are staggered 20x8.5 front & 20x10 rear wrapped in 245/35/20 all way round. I think it compliments this vehicle with the rear fenders being flared. Although I know it does nothing performance wise.

Added the spoiler in "Super Black" gotta love that 25% off!

I think to complete the look i need to close in on that wheel well gap with some lowering springs. let me know what you guys think...

Beautiful car! I really like the light silver on these cars. Was at the dealer yesterday and saw a new Altima 3.5 w/spoiler on the lot and really liked it.

Does putting larger diameter rims on the 2016's affect the speedometer reading or ABS?

Thank you! As of right now no issues... never really had issues going up to 20's, you might be off by +/-1 mph but I'm no expert. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in.

Wondering if the 20 in WHEELS (of which includes the Rims) are heavier? That, with the increased diameter could affect your straight-line performance 0-60 by a few 10ths.

Well I will say this my rear wheel 20x10 is probably not that much heavier than my stock wheel.

As far as straight line performance this car will never see the light of day at a track, let alone be involved in any kind of racing shennanigans. I have other toys for that.

fuse location

Where was the fuse for the fogs located? And when you installed the hids, did you go thru the top or thru the wheel well? Thanks in advance.

New 2016 SV

Went underneath thru the wheel well. The fuse is located on the inside fuse panel. It's labelled.

So a couple of updates Maxima family...

Difference between the LED vs Stock reverse light swap in daylight.

Completed look with LED swap in reverse and license plate lights.

How she sits now with the Eibach Pro-line springs installed. Took me about 4hrs total to complete.

With full HID swap out.

No more gawd awful wheel well gap!

Me and the wife were out looking at trucks... so I figured hey why not kill 2 birds with one stone and get a few photo ops in also.

I think shes sitting right now and anything further cosmetic wise would be too much. From here on out all mods will be performance focused... so we shall see what they have in store for the Max. Lemme know what you guys think!

The reverse lights and license plate lights look really great.

I wish someone would post a how to video of replacing them and which ones to get. Im too nervous to open things up, but i'm reall good at following directions

And my dealer said it would be too hard to disconnect the real tail light on the inside. But people on here are having it done. Is it an easy fix and the dealer is lying to me?

LOL... yea the dealer is lying to you! It takes all of 10 mins to do. all you need is a flat head screw driver. Open up the trunk lid and start popping the lil clips out only the lower half only. Once those clips are out, pull backing down and you will have access to the lights.

When you say rear tail light are you speaking in the 3rd brake light in the rear window cause you have a spoiler? If so I had mine disconnected by the dealer when the installed my spoiler.

PM for bulb brand.
