Nissan North America is recalling 119 2016 Nissan Maxima and 2015 Nissan Altima sedans to fix a potential brake problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
"The affected vehicles have front brake calipers whose mounting bolts may not be properly tightened," said NHTSA in its recall summary. "If the bolts were not properly tightened, the caliper may detach and reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash."
The affected cars were put on a stop-sale condition on November 4.
Nissan told federal safety regulators there are "no incidents" linked to the recall. Customers can continue to drive the cars "at their discretion," Nissan said.
The affected Altimas and Maximas were built from October 6, 2015 to October 7, 2015.
The problem has been traced to a manufacturing error.
Nissan dealers will check the brake caliper mounting bolts, tightening them as necessary. The recall is expected to begin in early December. Owners can contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
Edmunds
says: Nissan said this recall does not require any parts. Owners can either wait for their official recall notice and then set up a service appointment or take the vehicle into the dealership now for the repair.

Those who think there is a chance their car was built on the affected dates (Oct 6th and 7th) can look at the very bottom right corner of the window sticker that came on their car and see the actual date their car was set up for assembly. The number for affected cars will begin with either '20151005' or '20151006'.
It may be possible for the recalled cars to have been assembled around midnight, in which case their sticker might be off either way by a day, but if your sticker misses those dates by more than a day, you should have no worries.
