Ipod not working properly?
Whenever I try to select artists or albums on my connected ipod through usb I get an error message saying "There is no music on the device or there is no music in the folder."
Playlists show up fine though. Is there a setting in iTunes that I have to write to the ipod?

The USB on this car is awful.
Only folders that contain music files will display.
For example, If you have a folder called Metallica, then in that is each album, only the album folders show. My previous car would show all folders on the drive then you would drill down to what you want.
I put a 64GB drive in and had no way to easily tell what Band I was looking for.
Try that with 1000 or more folders.
So I bought an older 4th Gen iPod Touch. Works way better.
PS. If you don't select what folder and song you are looking for within 5-10 seconds, it will reset to what's currently playing. Major pain in the a**.

Yeah, what 16sjmax said.
Although I wouldn't call it awful, but not really great either. My Altima would recognize all the folders on the drive, so you could select an artist and then the album and then the song. I had to rename all my folders with the artist name out front. Example: Beatles- Help. Which makes it a pain to find the album you want. A lot of folders to scroll through. And you can't "flick" the list, you have to through it one screen at a time (if you use the command controller). But, I play mine completely random and seldom want to find a particular album or song. And as soon as you select a folder, it switches to the first song in the folder, so you can't use it to just see what songs are in that folder without it changing to that folder.
Another thing, it won't handle 1,000 folders. There is a maximum of 512 folders. But even that is much better that the 256 that all aftermarket stereos will handle. If anyone knows of an aftermarket radio that will handle more than 256 folders please let me know. I have a 350Z that desperately needs one!

I'm really surprised there isn't a letter list while trying to find a specific artist or album. Scrolling through a massive list is well, a massive pain.
Even better a search field to put in the artist or album would be huge for me. Wonder if they'll do a software update at some point to handle that.

It was one of the main selling points for the Honda Accord 2016 and the Ford Focus, except that I couldn't justify buying a car solely based on Carplay. It'll suck in a couple of years where everyone has it (or Ford's new system) and our 8th gen are still in NissanLand.
BTW, I test drove a 2016 Malibu, and they essentially have an iPad screen as the entertainment system, it's pretty crazy. Looks great, they clearly appeal to millennials. Too bad the ride is so soft.

In fact, even manufacturers that should have the hardware (e.g., 2016 Acura which essentially uses the Honda hardware) don't have CarPlay support. To the best of my knowledge, 2015 Honda Accord won't be getting carplay even though the system is very similar to the 2016, etc.

Also, I suspect that Nissan is too much in SXM's pockets (hence, for example, SXM paid traffic rather than HD radio traffic which is free), so they have no interest in making the entertainment system better. For that, one mostly has to buy an American car.
