I would like to start by thanking you guys for helping me in my research. I have never owned a maxima let alone any nissan cars. I grew up in a Toyota family.
Last weekend, I was shopping for my new car and maxima was not even in my list. I was looking at Dodge Charger R/T, Mercedes CLA 250, Lexus ES 350 and Acura TLX. Each cars had their own advantages and disadvantages, but none impressed me as Maxima did.
Dodge Charger R/T - Fast but at what cost. It was 13 MPG on my test drive car and the interior looked so cheap. Like a sub 20K car.
Mercedes CLA 250 - NOT EVEN WORTH THE PRICE!!!!
Lexus ES 350 - Good interior but more of a old people's car. Boring design and not sporty enough to my taste. Hate the grille.
Acura TLX - Its just a honda with acura badge.
After test driving all these cars, I stumbled upon maxima.org and that was it. I read through the forum, looked at pics and went to nissan dealership for a test drive. Test drove a S model white color car and that was the end of it. Interior was really impressive and for the price, it was absolutely a steal. Asked for a silver color S model and luckily they had one that just came out of the truck and nobody test drove it.
We worked on the numbers with the dealer and got it for 29900 including tax and fees. This was a steal in my opinion considering how much you pay for a v6 camry and accord. Absolutely thrilled and words cannot express my emotions when I get to drive my silver maxy baby.
Thank you guys!! This car is definitely not a slouch in speed department.. Interestingly this car weighs less than A4 as per google (maybe I am wrong??) This is not a heavy car which is even more impressive since this is being considered as full size sedan..
You will find that the Maxima is put in different size categories by different folks/mags/rating systems, as it does not fit exactly into any specific category. That doesn't bother me, because the Maxima is exactly what I want in a car. Like you, I bought the silver, because that has always been my favorite car color, and this silver is as nice as any silver out there. I am getting over 30 MPG on my freeway trips, which is great for a 300 HP 3600 pound car with no hybrid or turbo or supercharging of any kind. I still remember my 1966 Olds 88, which got 8 MPG around town and 11 MPG on open freeways.
You need to get used to folks looking at your car. I have had my 2016 for ten months, and I can't count the times I have returned to parking lots and saw someone pausing to look at my car. Also, cars coming up behind me at higher speeds on the freeway often get in my 'blind spot', then drop their speed to match mine. When I lean to where I can see them in the mirror, I find they are looking at my car. If they could see the interior appointments Nissan has in this 2016 Maxima, they would be even more impressed.
I think you chose wisely, got a very good deal, and will enjoy driving your new beauty. Congrats!
Had my 7th gen for 8 years and its been awesome the entire time- and got tons of compliments over the years. reason why I'm going to get myself into an 8th and not look back.
Congratulations! It's such an awesome feeling when you get the keys to a new car but even more amazing when you get the FOB to a new 8th gen Maxima! :-D
