Start cycle delay

I've experienced this about 5 times now - the start cycle takes about a second longer than normal. Seems like engine is waiting for either air or fuel. It eventually comes to life but I'm a bit concerned.

Of course, I'll take it in but curious if this come up for anyone else.

I think this may be a new situation on the board. At least I don't recall seeing it before your post. I think you are saying that the starter is turning the engine over, but the engine is not 'catching' (starting) for another second or two. I frequently dealt with that problem the last half of the 1900s, but have not experienced it in my 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2016 Maximas. This could be any of many things. If the starter is turning the engine over at a normal speed (full strength battery), then there may be a leak of some sort in either a fuel line or air line feeding into the ignition system. A good Nissan tech should be able to pin this down fairly quickly.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you described it accurately. Taking it in this week. Will update as able.

Interesting you bring this up. I noticed this on our platinum as well just a handful of times and didn't really think anything of it. When this occurred, it definitely didn't start on the first try and you could hear the starter but wouldn't turn over immediately. In the process all of the check engine, battery, abs, etc. lights would come on on the dash. Took a few tries resetting the ignition. It only happens on rare occasions, I don't know if it's just because it's not driven a lot: just on the weekends. In 5 months of ownership it only has 2k miles on it. When I have it in for the latest recall I will have them look at it. On my 16 SL I have not experienced this at all.

Yeah, you're not going crazy. I've had my car since Feb, and it happens once in a blue moon. Not frequent enough to diagnose IMO.

LONG Start issue

I have taken my 2016 SL to the dealership twice for the same issue all they did was bill me $1800+ dollars and still have the same issue
I have personally replaced all sensors, Fuel Pump, MAFS Sensor and still same issue. Dealer Ship took off the valve cover and inspected that and the wiring for shorts and or any other connection issue and suggested everything I have already completed and replaced even the Engineer that was at the dealer ship for another issue on another car stopped in and spent 3 hours on it that I know of or was told still same issue. Unfortunately for my SL it is every time I crank it over Car runs and drives perfectly except for this one issue.
