External Ground Lighting

Has anyone installed the Nissan external ground lighting? Good? Bad? Pics?

Thanks.

My '16 SR had the EGL already installed when I bought it. I think it adds a nice touch, have gotten positive comments on it...

The primary reason it took me three months to buy my 8th gen was that I was not interested in buying one unless it had the internal accent lighting package and the external ground lighting package. I have enjoyed both packages, especially the external ground lighting package. This is going to cost you several hundred bucks, but I think you will be glad you bit the bullet and did it. My wife and I appreciate this ground lighting every time we use the car at night.

Does it have to be factory installed or can this be added afterwards at a Nissan dealership?

If you don't mind me asking, what is the dealer charging you just to install? I was thinking about buying it online and then having the dealer install it!

These two options always seem a little superficial but I went ahead and ordered both...(oh heck, I ordered every option) and waited 9 weeks to get the car. After living with the lighting features, I could not imagine not having them especially getting out of the car at night. Wish I could figure out a hack to have them stay on longer.
A quick tip=> if you have these lights, be sure to wash them off from time to time, especially in the winter!

Also, will the dashboard, glovebox, and radio have to be removed for the wiring to be installed?

If you can get the lights installed for $100, that's a bargain, because I think the job takes a while.

Agreed. And that is why I insisted on getting a car with internal accent lighting package and external ground lighting package already on the car. I seem to recall the process involves opening up the dash, partially removing the radio, etc, etc.The quoted labor time was around 2 1/2 hours for each package (might have been cheaper together), and that translates to well over $100 at dealers I use. I think I received a quote of around $200 to $240 each when I asked in June of 2015.

I have the SR so it already has the ambient lighting. I am having the floor board/cup holder and external ground floor lighting installed. The car wasn't ready today because they are also giving it it's first oil change and taking care of the recall issues.

Here you go. I had the dealer install the exterior ground lighting and interior ambient lighting with 20 color choices in the cup holders and floor. Looks good except I have to cycle through 19 colors to get to the one I want.

Looks so sick dude, how much did you pay for both + install? My dealer marks everything up!

Damn that looks good!
Did they have to remove the dashboard, glovebox, or radio during the install and also where did they install the controls for the lighting?

Will I did it,the way factory specs the control is in the glove box on the center counsel, you have to remove the gloves box to install the lights there and to wire the control main box in to the accessory plug . No need for radio remove just the shifter and center part just the black piece it was a cake lol here is the link for any nissan installation https://www.nissan-techinfo.com/home.aspx

Not sure how they installed it or what they had to remove. I left them a voicemail about it today. The control is inside the middle console. Kinda hard to get to if I have too much junk in there.

I had them installed at the dealer prior to picking up the car when new. If I remember correctly is was about $125 for interior and $125 for the exterior lights. They look great but I would like the exterior one to stay on longer, it'd be great if you could program the time limit

Ah, didn't know what trim level you had. I want to buy these covers from Nissan but don't have a part number. Any ideas?
