Tire Noise
Tire Noise
Hey everyone. I have a 2016 maxima platinum and have noticed that the stock tires produce a decent amount of road noise. Even with noise cancellation the tires are loud on the highway. I currently have 2600 miles on the tires. Continental and the dealership were no help. Continental said this is what Nissan wanted on the car and that's it. The dealership said I'm SOL and if I want new tires I need to purchase them.
Does anyone else have the same issues that I am experiencing? Also if you changed your tires what did you get and what was the result?
Thanks

I've noticed the noise on my wife's maxima...tires are louder then in my car. Stock tires are rarely the best option, that's why I buy my cars with a few miles on them, when the stock tires hit 20k I get rid of them. on my 3rd set of Bridgestone Serenity Plus, best all around tire. Great grip when dry, phenomenal in wet weather, decent life, and of course, super quiet. Tread is a classy look too.
O wow. I don't notice the noise cancellation system working as well as other cars do. Surprised that the michelins are not much quieter. How is the overall ride with the michelins compared to the continental?
I just got off the phone with continental tires and they are willing to do a good will exchange for me to the pure contacts. They are thinking the stock tires could be amplifying a noise in the car in general. So they said they would set me up with the pure contacts. I get them installed on Monday. Will keep you updated after install.

Got the new tires installed. Road noise is lower when changing road surfaces. Also the steering is a lot more precise. Don't have many miles on them yet. As I get more miles I'll keep you updated. Very happy so far with change
It's nice when things work out.
Your car comes with pro contact tx. These are the purecontact.

We have to be careful when reading the sidewall on Contis. Seems most of their low profile tires (profiles between 30 and 50) have the word 'contact' somewhere in the name. But tread pattern, attributes, prices, etc, differ widely. I have always liked Continental tires.
After 300 miles I can give a better update. Tires are much quieter all around. Especially on the highway. Not a big noticeable difference between the different road surfaces. I now feel the premium qualities this car has. Also the handling has much improved. Steering is more precise and braking in dry and wet is much better. Not sure why Nissan chose not to put this tire on the car from the beginning. My wife noticed the difference right away when driving the car how the steering and braking was. I highly recommend these tires over the stock ones and will be calling continental tires to let them know of the update and how these transformed this car into they way it's supposed to be.
