Trashed Max/ Question

Long time lurker here, enjoy all the great info you folks share around here.

Have been driving a Maxima since my first in 2002, went to a 2013 a few years back and had to have a 2016 soon after they hit the market.

Unfortunately, while parked on the street the other night, a young man ran into my car, supposedly while doing the speed limit of 35 (you decide). Bummer to lose the car, but no one was injured and they have an all black Platinum 17 on the lot here in town so I will hopefully be back in the saddle this week.

My question is, after the collision, my car was over 100 yards down the road, could the impact have sheared something in the CVT? The car was in park and the truck that hit it stopped about 10 yards after the collision. Just curious if any of you know enough about the transmission and if the impact would have trashed it.

Thanks!!

Sorry for what happened but I'd bet that this crash would screw the trans for at least some longevity. Hopefully the problems will show up earlier than later. This car should be totaled

Glad no one was hirt, but no way this kid was going the speed limit, if it pushed the car 100 yards down the road from impact!

He's lucky to be alive, and I hope was cited for careless driving!

That's no accident from a car gozing 35 mph. Hopefully it will be totaled.

35 mph is about 53 feet per second. That's a lot of energy in a motor vehicle. Entirely possible that was a 35 MPH impact. I would not use that transmission.

At 35 MPH the impact force could be up to 90ish tons per square foot.
