Soft paint issues?

Picked up a 2016 SR last year in deep blue pearl. The color is great but it seems like the clear coat is soft. When I say soft I mean that it is prone to scratches, it appears that no matter what I do to prevent them I end up with an inordinate amount of scratching. The front bumper has been obliterated by road debris. My wife drives 50 miles into New York each day and I expected this but it just seems much worse than the Volvo she was driving.

Just the other day I used a nanoskin clay sponge on it and the results were horrible marring. The same sponge on my truck did not leave the same marks on the same day using the same process.

I can only conclude that the clear coat must be very soft as I have heard other Asian brands can be as well.

Please feel free to chime in and let me know about your own experiences.

PS I do use a foam cannon two bucket washes etc etc.

Its exactly as you said. Super soft clearcoat. No way around it. Try a ceramic coating to help a bit. Everytime u clay this car needs to be polished.

Thanks for confirming, I think.... Good news, your right! Bad news, this paint will drive you insane.

I did try some CQuartz on hood and front fenders recently and that seems to work well. I want to test out some GTechniq Crystal Serum Light on other parts to see how that fares. I know the hardness claims can be a wee bit overstated.

I prevented all problems like this by going the 3m transparent "bra" route before my car was a week old. Now I can drive in all kinds of traffic without worrying about what is marking up the front of my car. Bird crap. No problem! Leave it on for a week, then just wipe it right off no staining.

I have 3m protection on my Vettes as well. Good luck with your new car.

Front and rear bumper paint color

i noticed on my pearl white 17 that the front and rear bumper are a little darker shade than the rat of the body paint. Anyone else notice that on their pearl white. I did look at others and saw the same thing. Wonder if it's like that on other colors. Maybe because to comes with the sensors?

bumpers are plastic and rest of body is metal. When u paint those two different materials with same color its usually always a shade offf

+1

seen it on all of my cars - in the Nissan world, my GT-R and Pathfinder are both pearl white. GT-R was probably the best matched when professionally cleaned.
