Second notice of recall letter received

Last week I received a letter letting me know that parts for the recall of affected Maxima 2016 models with the ABS control unit were in. I had the replacement done the same week.
Yesterday I was on the highway for the first time and set the cruise control on. In about 5 minutes the control cut out with a beep warning and at the same time a warning light came on for the forward emergency brake system came on. I was not able to reemploy the cruise control again it now had an orange color and would beep when I tried.
When the car was turned off the warning light was gone and I was able to use the cruise control again but it would again disconnect after 5 minutes.

It will go back to the repair shop soon. It appears to have something to do with the ABS recall repair.

Between this and Nissan exposing/disclosing my personal details, I am not happy.

I too have had this issue. If you are in snow and/ or have a very dirty car, it appears the sensor for this located in the rf bumper area, might cause the issue. I try to keep this clear or at least wipe the area off and that usually fixes the problem.

This happens even if you're driving through a hard rain. The sonar doesn't read well in certain weather related situations.

I haven't had any issues with the car other than the sonar issue in bad weather. I do know my forward collision detection works very well. I've had it engage a couple of times when I wasn't paying attention. Quite startling, but effective.

The Maxima has had around 4 minor recalls. I say minor because the recalls haven't effected the performance of the car. The last recall pointing to the potential of the ABS module dripping on an electronic sensor and causing a fire didn't apply to my car.

I can't say your specific situation doesn't warrant a visit to the dealer for a check-up, but I had to learn about cruise control and forward collision on the road before I understood it.

I was taking a trip right after I bought the car and had cruise set to 75, and everytime I came upon a car going slower than me, the forward collision indicator activated and disengaged my cruise control. I would pass the vehicle and then re-engage my cruise control to 75. This kept happening until I realized the functions of the car were accurately functioning. I then realized once I got out of that lane and from behind that car, my cruise would then re-engage and accelerate back to 75.

I also got my 2nd letter and called dealer to make appt., which was completed today. My actuator does need to be replaced, so the part was ordered.

Apparently - they are not even allowed to keep a supply of the parts on site. Each car must be inspected, and the parts ordered. I suspect that they are keeping very close records of VIN's affected, possibly to aid in figuring out how to charge the vendor of the faulty parts??

You're right, gizzsdad. I had to leave my car for them to inspect also and they determined mine wasn't affected by the recall (by VIN). I've been through all recalls and it's been quiet since. Hopefully they're done.

I guess when you're a first adopter of a new gen car, you're going to have to work some bugs out. The good news about the 3.5 V6 is that this engine has been a proven engine for years and works like a horse. Love the improvements, though. I would've like to seen Nissan put 310 HP on this motor, and I think Nissan should've only offered 300 in the SR & Platinum. Every other platform should've kept 290 HP. Even better would've been 310 HP on the rear. Maybe they'll do something like that in 5 to 6 years. Who knows?

I got into an accident last year around this time on the passenger side which effected the module that controls cruise control and forward emergency brake system. After 6 months dealing with that and the car going in and out of shop, Nissan finally replaced that module and the problem went away.

I would suggest to get Nissan to calibrate the module again. This will probably take about 4-6 hours. If the problem continues, then push for a replacement module. I can send the picture of the part and the part number that controls this.

What was the reason for the car going in and out of the shop?

Because of the module crapping out...First time, they did the repair. Second time, changed my fog lights cause of condensation. Third and Fourth time, they did calibration for the module. Sixth time, they replaced the module.

Ever since then its been working pretty good. There was one time where the cruise control disabled, but it was because it was super foggy and raining quite a bit. Other than that, it's been working very well since I got the replacement.
