Shock absorber with leakage

Yesterday, I picked up my car from 10k maintenance service, and the service advisor told me that the rear pass shock absorber was leaking oil and will be replaced under warranty next week.

My concern is...do I have to replace the rear driver´s side too, in order to keep the rear suspension performance even?????

I appreciate your advise in advance.

no, that new you should be fine. If the car had 50-100K then I'd say yes go for it. Hey if money is no object then go for it anyway.

I believe the shocks on the Altima and Maxima are manufactured by KYB which is a reputable manufacturer. My 15 Altima also had them replaced due to a seepage around 20k miles

How can a leaky shock, which was not manufactured at the Nissan plant in Smyrna, lead you to post "sound like another quality issue at the Smyra (sp) Plant undercutting cost."

Cutting cost would be if the factory didn't install a shock on that side of the car.

I´m positively impressed by my Nissan local dealer. I just received an email from the Service manager told me that the 2 rear absorber shocks will be replaced under warranty. WOW...

100% out of your pocket for parts and labor. Also, expect denial of warranty coverage for anything else related to the suspension that can be remotely related to the shocks.

For all interested parties - The 2016 Maxima uses ZF SACHS Shock absorbers - The rear shock absorbers are a monotube design. This is a German company that specializes in suspension parts. Like all things manufactured today - you can get a bad item. Lets not knock things until we know the facts.

Love my Platinum
