2017 S - Front Seats

This is an FYI for any of you that may have the cloth seats in and lowly "S"
Could apply to leather, I have no idea.

I recently traded my 2013 sport for a new 2017 S. I noticed (actually noticed test driving) after a short trip that the front seat's sides are a little too narrow for me. I am only about 6' and 265, but that is apparently too wide for these seats. I actually considered cancelling the deal for a new altima.

Here is what I found. I had a 1/4" thick piece of anti fatigue matt left over from another project. When I put that foam in the seat (it is a very dense foam, $8.99 at Harbor Freight) I did not have a problem. So I decided to permanently install it.
Two Phillips screws under the front of the seat (plastic trim)
One more Phillips screw revealed after removing the front plastic.
Unhook the elastic loops that hold the cover on the seat foam
Separate the side seat plastic that holds the seat adjustment switches, just a touch.
Remove the 12mm bolt that holds the seat Bolster on. ( you may simply be able to use a sturdy screw driver to bend the 1/4" tubing that forms the support for the bolster.)
slide the extra foam under the factory foam. There are simply the old style couch spring supports under there.

Re-Assemble

It is not possible to see a difference in the factory and the current configuration. When you sit in the seat it is apparent that I do not sit as low in the seat. It is much more comfortable for me.

I had read this was a problem on the Infiniti G37. I failed to take pictures, but if you notice bruising on the outside of your thigh after sitting in your seats, this may be of help to you.

I too suffer from the narrow Maxima front seat. The Altima seat is much roomier for a big guy. Funny, I had a 15 Altima that I traded in on my 17 Maxima. But I ended up backing out of a deal on the Infininti Q50S due to the final test drive revealing it was too narrow. The Max was a bit roomier than the Q50 so I went to the Max instead.

So this too is a problem for you on the Max??? Misery loves company. If so do you have cloth or leather (just curious if they have the same problem.)

I have an SR so I have the leather and alcantara inserts. It is narrower than the Altima seat but not uncomfortably so. The Altima has the best seats I've ever set in.

My Sister model was a pre-certified model and came w leather seats. I am about your size but have no issues w bottom seat being uncomfortable.

Now, the issue that I am having is w the plastic trim that goes around front of bottom driver seat. The trim is separating at the joint in the front left corner. I already took it in and they were able to put it back on place but it's happening again. Need to take it in to have the part ordered and replaced under warranty.
