Lots of really tiny chips in my windshield!! What gives?

I was driving home yesterday with the sun shining down on my car, and I noticed a TON of really tiny chips in my windshield. At first I thought it was some dirt, but they were glistening so much, it made me feel the surface. Sure enough, they are super tiny chips in the windshield. My 2014 Altima had a very weak windshield. One tiny pebble and I got a huge crack that required the windshield to be replaced. I'm sure these tiny chips are no big deal in terms of failing, but they are VERY annoying.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any way to treat the windshield to avoid any more chips from happening. They are way too small to do a repair on.

I'm interested to know if this is something that is common with the 8th gen Maxima, or Nissan windshields in general, as my only experience has not been good. Never had a problem with both my Infiniti's!!!

My car is essentially new; less than 3500 mi. This just doesn't seem right to me. My wife's 2014 Jaguar has absolutely no tiny chips on her windshield. My son's 2014 Mazda C3 also is chip free. I had 2 Infinitis that never experienced this issue. That makes me think that it's the windshield that has subpar standards.

I'd really be interested to hear if others are having this problem.

I'll take a look at mine and let you know. I've had my 2017 SR for about 6 weeks and have almost 2,000 miles on it. Haven't noticed the windshield chipping yet but have noticed that my pearl white paint seems to chip very easy. Almost feels like could scratch it away with just my fingernail if i tried hard enough.

I noticed some on mine too! I thought a "hater" got to it so I was all pissed off. Glad to hear it might be "normal"....
