Voice Recognition Problem
Voice Recognition Problem
I have a 2016 Platinum that I have been experiencing an audio voice recognition (VR) problem for the last 18 months.
I have a 6th gen 80Gb Ipod hooked up to the ipod1 input. The Ipod is up-to-date and uses a certified cable. I enable the VR from steering wheel. Then, I give the "Audio" command, followed by "Ipod play artist xxx" or " Ipod play song xxx". I then receive a response that the VR library is being created and to try command again later. Later never comes as these two audio commands never become available because the VR library never completed creation. To make them available I have to manually go into the VR settings, clear out the VR library on Ipod1 and have it rebuilt. The rebuild process then takes about 60 seconds and the commands become available. (This manual rebuild process is a nuisance and not for doing at highway speeds) Following this manual reset, the VR will last intermittently until the car is turned off or possibly a few days. I have not been able to determine any reason for why the VR library disappears.
After 4 trips to the dealer and a call to Consumer Affairs I still have no resolution. I have tried all simple suggestions like replacing cable, reloading iPod software to latest and trying other USB port to no avail.
I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem and come up with a solution?
