Exclamation Rattling nois at low speed and low RPM

Hello everybody.

I have my 16 Max since May 2016 and it already has over 53k KM on it.
from the time I hit the 5k km there was a rattle sound when the RPM is between 1000 rpm and around 1800 rpm at low speed. Only happens when accelerating at these rpms.

I have read some topics and found many Nissan owners have been experiencing something like this.

I took my car to the dealer two times and they informed me that it's normal and the sound coming from the exhaust system and the weirdest thing that this sound is heard clearly when the AC is on. but when the AC is off, you can hardly hear it.

I'm writing to see if anyone is having the same rattling sound and if yes, have you tried to deal with it and get rid of it?

Thanks guys.

Sounds suspiciously like spark knock under load but I doubt it given the spark retard when the knock sensor detects pre-combustion. But might you be using regular grade fuel? Is the noise coming from the engine area?

compyelc4 may be onto something. Nissan recommends using premium, but this car will do very well on midgrade and do fairly fine on name-brand regular. The one situation where regular does not quite measure up is in acceleration, and that is where you are getting the most noise. Having the AC on puts a little more load on the engine, especially when the engine is at idle.

But if you are using premium or midgrade gasoline, then what I said is meaningless, and there is something else involved. Do you get the same noise in both normal driving mode and in sport mode?

Guessing....
Could be a damaged fan bearing the culprit, perhaps?

I'll have it checked again by the dealer, the first time they didn't even check it. Only a technician got in the car as a passenger, then he said this is normal. But for me It's annoying and I don't think it's normal.
I use the the premium fuel ( 95 Octane ). Here is Saudi we only have two types ( 95 Octane and 91 Octane ). I fill it with the recommended fuel type ( 95 Octane ).

And yes the noise coming from the engine area. For me it looks like it's somewhere underneath the engine.

I use Premium and yes the noise is heard with both normal and sport mode.

Could be, I'll take to the dealer this week to check it again.

Dears, I found and locate that noise and where it was coming from.

Since the dealer wasn't able to find it, I checked it myself during a vacation with my little brother and found that is's coming from the Belt Tensioner.

Then I took it to a Nissan Specialist workshop to replace it.
Cost is around $40 for the Belt Tensioner part ( Part #: 119553JA0A )
Labor was around $50 and was done in less that one hour.

I can tell that the rattle noise is %90 gone. But still I can hear it.
At least I'm happy I know that the noise is not coming from the engine or the Gearbox themselves

Hope this update helps you guys.

I have tried (3) different dealers here in my city in Florida USA and they know nothing about the car. But are very good in trying to sell extra services you don't need or not performing the service you paid for...

Same

I got the same issue i think, happens around 30mph or 1500-2000 rpm sounds like playing cards in a bicycle spoke , sounds like it originates near the firewall behind the dash instrument cluster.

I have got the same issue at low-medium speed and low rpm on acceleration. Sounds more like a metallic rattle seems to be originating probably from back of the engine. had similar (but less) noise previously and it was better when i switched back to 95 octane. but now 95 octane is giving me really bad cold starts so i have switched to 91 Octane and the rattle is back and much worse now. Note that i had the tensioner replaced few months back and I'm afraid if it would be the CVT.

Guys if you have found a solution, please recommend.

If it eases your mind at all my 16 Max did this from 25k to 102k and never appeared to actually present an issue. I actually had 0 issues with my 16.

My 19 Max has also had the same noise since I got it at 18k. I've pretty much written it off as a quirk of the car as it seems to be of 0 concern.
