annoying acceleration noise

whenever accelerated, no matter what the throttle position, as long as its >about 4000 rpm, I have a prominant sputter/bubbly noise. It is noticable outside and makes the engine sound like crap. I know there is supposed to be some noise similar to this when under strain or going up a hill for example, and I had something similar in my old 88 cadillac whenever accelerating. It occurs in every gear especially when a higher gear is used in a low rpm situation for whatever reason, (say 2cd when turning into a driveway and accelerating a lil, it would drop to about 1500 due to the speed) I use 93 octane, dont know if the previous owner did which would have been about 70k miles. I dont believe the spark plugs have been changed, now about 80k.

It's just too MUCH and too LOUD to be normal IMO and the car just doesnt seem to be as spunky as it should be with the sound occuring

Have you tried Seafoam the miracle $6 solution? It sounds like maybe some pipe is clogged and in your car, if so that will hopefully clear it up.

dont know if this helps, but ive had a bubbling noise upon acceleration and ive been told I need to bleed the heater core. Story goes, that theres probably air trapped inside. Dunno if this is even near what youre hearing, but thats what I have been told.

Oil probly doesnt have anything to do with that problem but ive heard quaker state isnt exactly the highest quality, its actually right in par with pennzoil(parent companies)

this sounds similar to my problem at around 2k rpm in 2 or 3d gear. All i have to do is add some gas and the rattle goes away.

I doubt that's the problem. I have the noise he's talking about, and my plugs were replaced with my coils about 2k miles ago.

It seems to happen with cars as they age. Very common, I've always wondered what caused it. It's annoying but since it happens in a relatively narrow power bandwidth it's easy to drive around it most times.

Ya I had changed the plugs, and seafoamed both the manifold and crankcase to clean up in case it was maybe a dirty lifter or valve. (that happened a lot in my old 88 car) But it is still very much there and the car has 80k and thats really NOT that much compared to 150k

hmm.. interesting, I've never heard of that

1.) How would this make that noise?
2.) How would I check or "analyze" it?

It is definately sounds like it's coming from the engine bay though. However I just found this thread

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=373701

which sounds SIMILAR at least to my problem except I don't really understand the studs part. How could bolts make a rattling noise upon acceleration?
