No Auto folding side mirrors on SR 2016 maxima

I love the car but I don't get it why Nissan didn't add the most basic option of today's car " auto folding side mirrors " small cars like Hyundai Elantra has it !

Just don't get the logic behind it.

Iam in Saudi Arabia and this option is not here .

You'll find a few other areas as well where they cut cost (passenger seat with no height adjustment, Bose sound system, etc.), but they put a lot of other extras into it too and it's still a lot of bang for the buck. It's just interesting some of their choices.

I don't get it. Please help me out here. I've been driving for many years, owning everything from Renault 4CV's and Ford Pintos to Maxima's and Vettes. What is the importance to you of folding side mirrors. I'm guessing it is because you parallel park on very narrow two-lane streets, like in Chicago and Boston, and you don't want to get your driver's side mirror ripped off?

Do you mean folding mirrors when you reverse or when you turn the engine off? The former is for parking and the latter to protect them when parked from people knocking them.

I lived in Chicago and street parked for YEARS and this was never an issue. Not sure why now it's a big deal for OP. I'd be more worried about that in Italy or something than in the US where we have very wide streets.

A major cause of the need for folding mirrors is the insane judgement of home designers. While looking at homes several years ago, my wife and I saw homes in the $500,000 to $800,000 price range being built with master baths/closets huge enough for a family of four to live in, with three bay garages tall enough for large SUVs, but where the edges of the garage doors were around three inches from the mirrors of our Maxima (and other many cars/SUVs). Folding mirrors make it possible to use those garages with little risk to the mirrors.

Nissan regularly sends me surveys in which they ask me to rate the importance of each of a long list of possible features for the Maxima. Power folding mirrors is always on their lists, and I always check that as being important for me. Evidently, some who answer those surveys do not feel the same way I do about power folding mirrors.

So, we have power adjustable mirrors, Maxima mirrors that tilt down when we put the car in reverse, mirrors that automatically dim when the headlights of the car behind us hit them, but not power folding mirrors. Because of this decision by Nissan, while looking for our new home a few years back, several homes that met all our other requirements were bypassed because of the narrow garage doors and no power folding mirrors on our Maxima.
