Phonebook reader is LOUD

I just bought a new Platinum and one of the first things I tried was to pair my Android phone to the infotainment system with Bluetooth. It paired fine, and copied the address book to the car. Now, when I select a name in the phonebook on the touch screen, the car reads it to me in a LOUD female voice. Is there any way to turn this voice off, or at least to turn it down?

Yes. Go to settings and then sounds. It will be in there.

You can also use the volume **** or steering wheel volume while she's talking to adjust it.

In the advanced settings, you can control the phone volume. This might affect this as well. You can access it by starting the car, turning off the radio, and hold down the menu while turning up the volume **** for several turns.

Yup, the key here is "while she's talking". Once she stops, the volume controls won't do it.
