How is the SV leather?

I'm still planning stages to get a new max later this year. I'm 100% sold on the car, but I'm still on the fence about the trim level though. I've been leaning towards the platinum, but with all the various issues I've heard about with those fancy extras... I'm not sure I want to spend the extra money.

For example, the Bose sound system that isn't that great, the cooling seats that you can barely feel, automatic seat adjustments that many have had to have fixed, and led accent lighting that can barely be seen, and an ugly brown interior trim (ok that is subjective but I like the silver better), intelligent cruise control that can't be put into regular mode, and various rattles that really shouldn't be a problem for any new car.

Sorry for the flood of negativity, it's a still a great car but may only be worth spending on the lower end of the scale. Which leads me to my question, does anyone know about how good the seats are in the SV model? On their website it says "leather appointed"', is that somehow different from the leather seats in the SL and Platinum models?

I have an SV and I think the leather seats are quite nice. My nephew has an SL and his are also nice, but have more of a "quilted" pattern to them for lack of a better term.

I have a 2016 SV. I LOVE the leather seats. Their comfy, they hug my body really well, and the heaters work great in the winter. I totally agree with you about the silver trim, looks way better than the brown wood. So if you dont want the extra things here and there the SV would be a better option.

2017 SV here. Went to this level because I didn't want the sunroof (usually use a sunroof twice - first when I take possession to make sure it works, second when I turn it in). The leather is A-OK. Did have to bypass the Bose at this level, with thoughts of maybe going aftermarket later.

Maybe the quilted leather on the upper levels would grab more dirt and lint? Enjoy the SV and its beautiful animal hide.

Living in FL I was surprised at how much heat the black SV interior doesN'T hold onto. I like the non quilted aspect, they're easy to clean-- I just take an Armor All Leather Wipe to them once a week and all light/white discoloration (I honestly have yet to figure out where it comes from, probably something via me) is instantly gone. I prefer the silver trim to the brown 10fold.
The only thing I miss from the other trims is the infinity window look (I'll be gloss wrapping for that tho), the sound system... which I'll probably also invest separately in, and the black wheels but I decided to powder coat lilac w/ black accent anyway.

Thanks y'all for the feedback. good to hear their still pretty good.

Bbyrooks: I'm a Floridian too. My old car has a light interior, I would have never considered the dark interior but maybe now I'll give it a chance

I believe the SV and SL have identical seats, while SR and Platinum seats are supposed to be more "premium." IMO the SV is the best value, especially if you don't care about the safety tech or a sunroof. I'm not a fan of the stock speakers, but from reading this forum it seems the Bose system is nothing to write home about.

IMO, the SL is the best "bamg for the buck" especially when you can get all the large rebates now.

Maybe I should pick the SL , all my gripes from the original post aside, the safety gear and sunroof are pretty tempting. It really depends on whether or not those rebates will still be around when I'm ready to buy, around November/December timeframe.

My platinum's sunroof broke when I was taking delivery of the car. My Sales guy was showing me all the features and opened the sunroof and it got stuck open and would not close. Took almost 2 weeks for the replacement motor to get in before I could get my car. I've had a lottttt of issues with my platinum. Pretty much everything from your first post

Sorry if this doesn't pertain to the subject, I have an SR and I am absolutely in love with it. In between platinum and SL, all the options I need
