It won't work unless you connect through the 1st USB port. Even if you have Bluetooth enabled.

Hello I am looking for someone that has the SD card to a stock 2017 Maxima with apple car play or Android auto. I really just want the files off it but if you are no longer using it and would send it to me that would be great. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you!

I'm just curious is this still not possible? With 2 more years of the 8th generation I would hope maybe it can be done now...

I read up on this a while back. I don't remember all the details but our cars do not have the necessary routing hardware to connect wirelessly at a high enough speed to make it function reliably. The technology does exist but it's too expensive for most car manufacturers to include it, some high end cars do offer it as an option though. Eventually the costs will go down and it could become a standard option but by then Car Play may be obsolete as well.

Brand new models across manufacturers still do not have wireless Carplay or Android Auto. As far as I know only BMW and Mercedes are starting to offer it.

The data transfer speed wirelessly is still too slow for what those platforms need in order to run. You can replace your headunit if you really get bugged by a single cord enough

Neither CaarPlay nor Android Audo works wirelessly at present, unfortunately. Actually, for me Android Auto doesn't work at all, actually. It worked in the beginning (months ago), then stopped working despite all the updates.
