New car smell making me sick!!! Anyone else have this problem??

 

Maybe try opening the windows while driving to help dissipate the fumes?

I love the smell of a new car.

 

Windows down when I can. Nope 4th new car. You can have my new car smell then

 

I've got this sickening smell in my '17 too, but mine smells like rubber when I get in the car when the windows have been closed for a while, esp. when hot outside. Initially before the rubber smell it smelled a little like skunk but I had no run-ins with a skunk either while driving or parked (if you know what I mean). My wife said she smelled skunk too and now the rubber smell. Stuff your nose into a new rubber boot and you will get the idea. Almost overpowering smell now.

 

Knowing the chemical fumes radiating from the upholstery, plastics, etc inside a new car are not particularly healthy, I always leave the car sitting in full sun with the windows closed for several hours as soon as possible. This heat inside the car helps speed the process of fumes leaving the materials. Then I take a short drive with all windows open to remove the fume-filled air fairly quickly.

This works best when it can be done on very hot days. After several such sessions, the intensity of the fumes begins to lessen.

Leaving all the windows open as the car sits inside a garage for several days also helps.

 

Get it ozonated. It will dramatically reduce the smell.


A good detailing shop can do this.

The smell of the new car is the most expensive perfume that you can purchase.....
