Slow bluetooth - music connection
Slow bluetooth - music connection
When I start my '16 Platinum the phone seems to connect quickly and I believe will make and receive calls through the BT connection. But if I try and play music within the first 5-10 minutes of driving I get a message "...PHONE STOPPED".
Does anyone else have this issue? Have you found a workaround for this annoyance?

iPhone 7 with always the latest ios updates.
The phone call function seems to work about immediately when I get in the car as it will connect over to the stereo when I am on a call and start the car up. As for music though it takes a LONG time for it to connect and play.

What app are you playing music with? I have the worst luck with Pandora and easily half the time I have to kill the Pandora app and relaunch it in order for music to start. But I have noticed if I wait a while (like several minutes) then sometimes it will start playing again. Pretty annoying. I'm about to buy a large capacity but small profile USB drive loaded with a ton of my favorite music and just keep it plugged in all the time. However, I've heard that the radio doesn't remember where you've left off when playing music from a USB drive and just starts over every time you turn the car on. That could be a deal breaker for that idea.
I've been having this issue with my iphone 7, latest OS and updates. Seems random though. Lots of times it works fine but other times I can't access the blue tooth folder options to select artist or playlist until I've been driving a while.
I was beta testing iOS 11 over a year ago and noticed everything was slow. Connecting, skipping songs, etc. I made several notes to Apple, but obviously it wasn’t important enough to them to fix. Still aggravated that you can’t use the canned text responses with the iPhone, and that’s on Apple as well. I really love it when all of the metadata disappears from the screen . One thing that was fixed, was the music would stop when ever the phone detected another Bluetooth enabled car nearby.
I noticed some delay when I used to connect via Bluetooth (before I swapped the head unit to get CarPlay). I used to turn the audio off before I turned the car off so it would not automatically try to start playing when started again. It takes the head unit quite a few seconds to boot up, and therefore a fair amount of time for it to connect to the phone, and then start streaming music. If I did this too quickly, I would get an error no music on this device. It did not happen frequently, but I did it as a precaution because it screwed up the connection and either the car, phone, or sometimes both, needed to be restarted. I have even noticed with voice commands when being extremely impatient: vehicle starting, please wait.

Yes Sith master, I do believe you are right about this.
Sure apple makes some nice phones, but talk about lock-in, once you go apple your stuck with apple for the rest of your life unless you want to rebuy all your apps. And with their phones costing 1000 dollars a pop now, that's getting to be an expensive proposition. And forget about getting your contacts and calendar back from iCloud, unless you hadn't the foresight to use google for that first.
I'm sure I'm in the minority but I'm not too interested in using my phone with the Bluetooth. I tried it once to play some music and thought it sounded horrible. I used the good old fashioned aux cable and it sounded 100x better.
