Maxima door side molding
Maxima door side molding
I am glad that vendors are beginning to make things for the 8th gen Maxima. I make and install bodyside protection strips for my wife's trucks, but I make them from thicker, wider hard black rubber to match the wheel well molding, mudflaps and other protective molding I put on those trucks.
Although these new Maxima protective strips do serve a purpose, and are correctly designed, I prefer not to break up the stylish sides of my 8th gen, so have not made or installed protective side molding. This will be a matter for each owner to decide for themselves.
I have installed wheel well molding, rocker panel molding, etc, from hard black rubber strips on my 8th gen, but have left the four doors clean of molding.

If someone could make some magnetic felt padded guards that I can slap on there only when I need to, that would be awesome.
I usually park as far from everyone as possible, but sometimes it's not an option. For example, when we go to Disney World and the cram all the cars in the lot like sardines.
When it's time to go, just peel them off and toss em in the trunk.

Interesting. My wife and I usually park 'way out in the boonies' (away from everything and everybody). But there are times when this is not an option. We have our favorite motels that have ten foot wide parking spaces in front of each room, but most motels have poor parking. What bothers me is when we park at least a bivouac or further from the store or restaurant to which we are going, then eventually return to our car which we left with a dozen empty spaces on each side and find a badly dented rust bucket parked two feet from our car. For years I never understood this, then one time, as we returned to our car, we saw the folks from the rust bucket standing around our car admiring it. It is hard to be angry with someone that loves our car.
Edit - You may have something with the temporary/removable side strips idea.
