Smile drivers seat awesome but too hard

One of my favorite parts of my 2018 Platinum is the interior is beautiful cream colored and really nice. I have to say though, that the drivers seat is very stiff and could be more comfortable. I'm thinking about getting a little foam pad or gel insert that will fit in between the seat "wings" that are on either side of the center (main) piece of the seat bottom.

Has anybody out there tried to make the seat softer?

I agree, but I haven't tried to solve this yet

The shape of the seat is very comfortable, but its a bit too stiff for long journeys. Unfortunately any cusions would interfere with the heating and cooling features

It would seem that a firmer seat pays off the longer the trip. I had to play with the thigh adjustment on the Platinum to get things just right. Now no further issues.

The seat in my SR is supportive in all the right places, but I actually find the seat bottom to be a little bit narrow for my somewhat wide American rear end. The side bolstering, particularly on the left side, is a bit confining and causes discomfort in my left leg on long trips. I recently had an Altima as a rental and the seat in it was wider and a little more accommodating on a long trip.

What would be really nice is an adjustable vertical lumbar support (including the in and out) like in the Audis

Just finished a pair of 1000 mile stints last week from Chicagoland to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and back with just a few very brief breaks for a food, gas and the inevitable bathroom stops in my '17 SR. The outbound leg was broken into a 700 mile leg (12 hours) and a 300 mile leg (5 hours) but the return trip was done in one 17.5 hours chunk.

The seats exceeded expectations....

I re-worked the seat a little.

https://maxima.org/forums/8th-genera...ont-seats.html

With the seat still in the car you can take the front and side plastic off.
a 12mm bolt on the seat bolster can also be taken out to free up some work room.

I used a pry-bar to widen the left seat bolster. It is a 1/4" bar that is welded on either end. I simply pried it out about 1/4" I then added some 1.5" foam from Hobby lobby under the factory foam. ( I originally use some high density floor matt from Harbor Freight. ) I eventually added the thicker foam.

My problem was that at 275 lbs I am just a little to wide. I was trying to build up the center of the seat with more padding. With the center higher, it made the seat fit a little wider.(the 1.5" foam compresses very easily it is not near as dense as the factory foam.)
Be careful about adding foam all the way across including the bolsters, you will effectively narrow the seat a bit.

Seat bottom could have a little more padding.
