I have a 17 SV and just love it. Yeah, the turning radius could be better but nothing is perfect. Just wondering why I have never seen a commercial for this car. Its always the Altima.

Follow the money. Altima is Nissan's bread and butter car. Maxima is the flagship, does not sell as well as the Altima, and does not bring in the required profit margin even if the Maxima and Altima sales were neck and neck in volume. Nissan is saturating the airwaves with all their SUV's and Altima. Fact of life.

I happened to be at a Nissan dealership today test driving another car with my son, and the salesman told me that they haven't been selling a ton of Maximas. He did mention that he had a 2017 himself though.

Still, the Maxima is not that rare of a car. 67,627 sold in the US in 2017. Compare that to the Genesis G80 only sold just over 16,000, or more to the point of flagship, Lincoln Continental only sold 12,000 in 2017. Maxima is still a large volume car when compared with other flagship cars. In all honesty, I'd still consider the 370Z Nissan's true flagship, of course the GTR can't be forgotten, but it is more of a novelty like the Viper was.

And too, look at the figures jump in 2017 vs the previous 12 years or so. 2005 was the only year better then 2017...seems to me they've been doing very well without advertisement. Compare that to the Kia Cadenza or K900...dismal sales.

Interesting thread. Nissan hopes to sell around 300,000 Altimas (their 'everyman's' car) each model year, but plans on selling only around 70K Maximas each model year. Ghosn announced that plan in 2002, and it has not changed since then.

I do see the Maxima in the background in many Nissan ads that are covering several Nissan vehicles in the same ad. But almost never in an ad by itself. The Rogue is by far the most advertised Nissan vehicle, and that makes sense, as SUVs are outselling sedans by a margin so great that many manufacturers are dropping sedans from their lineup.

I suspect that Nissan will either completely redesign or drop the 370Z from their lineup within the next five years. It has not sold well for years.
