2016 Maxima : Akebono Sport Brake Upgrade Package (Front & Rear)

Good afternoon,

Wanted to share and confirm that the following brakes will work on a 2016 Maxima from Z1 Motorsports if you are looking to upgrade. The Nissan dealership installed with no issue.
https://www.z1motorsports.com/brakes...ar-p-4296.html ask for John or Russ!

Pics included and let me know if you have any questions.

non lowered just straight 20" wheels with tires. Please see pics and links below.

The installer and I verified a full left and full right simulation to confirm no rubbing or scrubbing occurred.

It's my take on a Nismo Maxima since the Sentra, Altima, 370, and GTR get all the love.

did you just order the base kit? how many rolls did it take to do the dash and all 4 doors? just the 2 6 ft included or did you have to add-on more rolls? did you hardwire it? thanks

Hey Hey, here's what I got all from Amazon... this kit did both the driver/passenger doors and dash. Hardware, yes and installed front and center under the console. I have 2 more ports open on the light emitter to do the back doors which will take x2 6' rolls. Make sure you pair the adapter via bluetooth for your IOS/Android device. I have use an Android so here's the link as an FYI - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hrome&hl=en_US

Hey there and thank you!

The engine cover is a custom paint job via a local body shop. I had a new cover drop shipped to them then they prepped, painted, and ultimately installed.

Beautiful car man. Were you obligated to up-size your wheel because of the size of the calipers? I hoping to continue use my factory 18's.

Thank you and Good question ... my tires/wheels were upgrade prior to the brakes. I worked with https://www.z1motorsports.com/ @ 770-838-7777 Russ, who went over the specs with me prior to purchase. I would touch base with them and go over your setup and confirm if this package would work. Good luck and send me some pics when finished!

I hate to bother, but I have one more question. Were the rotors on the kit bigger than your stock rotor, did need to cut the dust guard to fit the rotors? Thank you very much for your help and happy holidays

Only slightly bigger, at first Nissan was afraid that the wheel spin would hit but it cleared the 4mm space requirement. The fronts had no issue at all but the rear ones they had to cut slits on the dust guard to help it fit better.

Good luck and happy holidays to you too!

@hotsprings1234 Amazing looks on the car with that upgrade. I drive rather aggressively and I feel the stock brakes are a little lacking. I am thinking about getting the same BBK from Z1 early next year as soon as I pay off my car. I purchased these wheels a few months ago https://tinyurl.com/ybvmvnwb but I am not able to determine if the brake calipers will clear the wheels. Is there a way for me to check this? I tried asking for some information from Z1 and they replied
We can not confirm these will fit anything other than the 370Z's G37's and Q60's 2016 and Newer.
. I notice you have a NISMO branded intake, do you have a link for this intake? How much extra HP and torque are you getting with the intake? I am currently looking at the K&N 69 Typhoon https://tinyurl.com/ybo6vpxw, wondering if the NISMO one is better. Btw did you have to change your brake fluid from DOT3? If so what did you get?

Nice wheels! Please see my reply per section below and let me know if you have any follow up questions, good luck.

Brakes:
I was fortunate when I called z1 and the rep told me he had a guy on staff with a 2016 Maxima that installed the https://www.z1motorsports.com/brakes...age-front-and- rear-p-4296.html package with no issues. I showed the specs to the Nissan dealership (who confirmed they would work via a full swap out) ... perhaps try that approach with BBK?

Brake Fluid:Even though Nissan recommends DOT 3 and that we should uses DOT 4 if one tracks or drives aggressively.DOT4 and DOT3 are immiscible, so there is no problem using DOT4 on the track or on the street. It is a higher spec than DOT3 as it pertains to boiling points. Most racing fluid "conforms" to DOT4, although the best fluids are quite a bit better than the minimum specs call for.

Intake:

The intake is a simple rebrand of both Stillen's intake and exhaust, Nismo does not make one for a 2016 Maxima but pretty much everyone copied K&N's design anyway. Even though I did not have it dyno'd to get a true reading 'it' feels way faster than the stock 300HP.... let's estimate 15-20 HP based on how it snaps you back into the seat and sounds sexy aggressive and angry both when idle and punchin' the hammer.

Hope this helps and

Hey thanks @hotsprings1234 , I gave Z1 a call today and the guy said a few folks have done it but he can't say for sure if it will fit in my set up. Problem is if I buy it and it doesn't fit with my wheels then I have to pay 20% restocking fee to return them. I gotta figure out how to check whether my wheels will clear the calipers. I am thinking to get their Z1 two piece rotors to reduce weight so I gotta be double sure since the kit is quite expensive. Btw, which Nissan dealership did the swap for you? The one close by doesn't do non manufacturer mods, they basically said unless Nissan makes a NISMO kit for the maxima they can't install non OEM stuff.

Nice upgrades but you should get rid of that weak link oem battery. I've had 3 Maxima's and a Murano and the battery in all of them was a piece of crap.
