2019 LED Conversion

You may find them cheaper but most of the places I contacted that were slightly cheaper all had to order one or more of the pieces. Coulter Nissan was the only place I tried that had all the lights and sent them right away.

Cool I have a friend who is a tech at Nissan, I will reach out to him later. I'll keep you up to date ..... im on the fence with the front upgrade..

Said it before and I'll say it again, nissan could probably make alot of money from maxima drivers if they offered some kind of headlight upgrade and installed the new style lights on the 16-18 models. Same with android auto and carplay. I'd be more than willing to pay a reasonable price to upgrade to the 19 lights and have them installed.

Put yourself in the shoes of a manufacturer. While they love aftermarket bag hooks, illuminated door sills, and floormats, they wouldn't ever rock the boat of lighting.
And, to that point, how does this impact crashes (yes, lighting can cause fires), etc.

Fires?? What would cause a fire in an LED? A 1 to 1 light replacement in a Maxima wouldn't be cause for concern. I'm of the mind that if you want the looks of a 2019 Maxima, wait a year or two, then buy a 19, they won't be holding any value more than 16-18 did after a year or so.

You're forgetting about the DOT (and international) regulations.

This part of the thread is nonsense. Nissan (OEM) will not do it - the only one who would is aftermarket.

Doesn't matter LED or bulb - it is still electrical and subject to and governed by the DOT (or EU, JP, etc).
Look into fires from taillight assemblies. There have been numerous recalls over this precise thing - that’s why manufacturers like BMW and MB change the lamp fitment shape (or wiring harness) on mid cycle refreshes. Nissan is too cheap to do so.
Nissan isn’t going to stick their —— out there with “retrofit friendly” lights just so a bunch of rice boys can retrofit LED’s.
Leave it up to aftermarket.

Is it the same with the 2016 model?
Hey, I'm new to this forum. I just got a 2016 Maxima. I asked a guy on instagram who swapped his 2017 tail light to the 2019 and I asked him if he their might be any difference between the 16 and 17. He said that he hear the 16 model might get hyperflash. You have a 17 model, but you said it play n play. Is it the same with the 16 model? I dont want to buy the tail lights and have an issue with it.

I would highly doubt Nissan changed anything about the lights in one short model year. The rear lights will not hyper flash, they don't for me. Now if you put 19 and up headlights on your 16, yes, there is a warning on the dash about voltage but that is a huge mess anyway, you also need the 19 bumper or put up with an ugly gap under the lights. To replace the rear lights there are 4 pieces, the 2 turn lamps and two reverse lamps, $800-900. Easy swap though, took me 30 minutes to do all of them.

Thats exactly what im working on and no i have a 2017 and the lights arent plug and play i plugged and im in and im guessing the wiring is like reversed or something like that because when using the turn signas or hazards the DRLs are the one that flash and the only way the DRLs come on is if you apply the high beams so ill be working on it today because seems like wiring is off

Have anyone found out how to remove the headlight error code ?
Yes. The rear lights are basically the same with a new outer lens. Fit and harness are the same. While the front LED headlights will fit and connect, there's the gap and the 2019 lights throw a code (voltage?). I'm not worried about the fronts though, not changing them. I wouldn't have tried it if I hadn't seen this:

I also wouldn't have bothered if the lights weren't already cracked but I do like the look of the car better with the 19 tail lights.
