Auto Braking System

Can anyone tell me if the brake lights illuminate when the auto braking system engages?

They should. Otherwise it would be a major safety issue. How would driver behind you know that your car is braking?

That what I assumed, but never had a chance to turn around and see. Will have to have a passenger check.

Yes - they have to by law.
Cars with auto brake hold (including the 2019 Altima) illuminate the rear lights when hold is on, as well.
