Is it just me?, or does anyone else feel that the a pillar creates a blind spot in some instances, blocking your view,
I also own a very large 1991 Cadillac brougham and do not have the same feeling. 2016 maxima.

Yeah left turns are a little sketchy sometimes. With the Maxima I usually have to lean forward for tight lefts to make sure I don't ram a curb.

I think it's a combination of the thick A pillar and the height of the mirror. The mirror perfectly blocks where I'd normally look towards a left turn.

Yep. Just lean forward. I learned that while driving snake roads around hills in LA,CA. Very annoying! But vehicle climes up the hill very good.

I was mainly concerned about not seeing pedestrians.

Ha! Compared to my '14 Camaro, driving the Maxima is like cruising around in this... lol

The "A" pillar is substantial for sure, and at times I do find myself "peering" around it a bit in left hand turns. I also have a Cadillac- a mint, low mileage 2000 Sedan Deville that doesn't have that problem, but she does take a bit more time to respond to commands from the helm in regard to turns than my SR...awesome highway cruiser, though- has a sweet spot at 80 mph that is like being home on the couch, the Northstar 32 valve V8 is a great lump, and the interior has its' own zip code. My sons love it for tailgating parties at Patriot games- carries six guys and enough food and beverage for all...

Yeah I've almost hit a pedestrian a few times who was standing right in that blind spot area trying to cross the street. My passengers saw them but I did not.

I’ve heard about the A pillar causing issues, but so far it’s been fine for me. However, I sit up pretty high in the seat so it might be a bit more of a challenge if your shorter or have the seat lower

A pillars are bad in this car. Add vent shades and it’s even worse. My previous car had bad blind spots so I’ve learned to actually lean forward and around to get a good look when turning.

Funny you should mention that. This was my major complaint just after purchasing our '17SL. I was so exited with the couple of test drives I had that my mind totally blanked out this ugly blind spot. Since that time my mind has adapted and I don't think about it. Good thing I have not killed a pedestrian in a crosswalk, but the probabilityof doing so is definitely higher with this car.

When I bought my new Platinum in 2018 my wheels on that side were scratched by a curve while making a left turn on a stop sign. I never saw it due to the A pillar The car was only a week old. Since then I double check before turning, concerned about pedestrians too....
