OEM radios failing

My wife's 2018 Maxima has gone thru 2 radios. Is this a common problem with this generation Maxima? Warranty is covering it so far but I wonder if some other issue is causing the radios too fail.

No. It's just you. No car ever built has "common" problems.

What issues?
Mine is ok 2017 most of the time but every once and awhile acts flaky.
Sometimes it doesn't have sound, sometimes it doesn't recognize my iphone when I plug it in, sometimes it reboots and takes the center display in the car with it.
I figure its probably mostly issues to do with carplay since I use that all the time.
If I shut the car off for awhile then it works ok.
I think if they add a ctrl-alt-del key to the radio then that would help

Guessing you never heard of Pinto fuel tanks.

I don't drive the car so I really don't deal with the problems day to day but your symptoms sound familiar to what my wife describes. The second radio just stopped working but would sometimes start again if you turned the car off and restarted. It seemed like it something needed rebooting. That's probably not the correctt term but the idea is it seemed like the radio would work if it got the correct command.

can you define "failing"?
I've had issues across two 8th-gen Maximas - 2016 and 2019 - resets, frozen screens, touchscreen doesn't work, navi, XM signal, CarPlay failure, etc., but nothing of the "completely failed/dead" variety.
Yet.

I posted another reply to MoopMeep but I guess it didn't go through. It's my wife's car so I don't drive it much. It just won't play sometimes and usually resets when the radio is turned off and turned back on. Eventually it quit resetting. She's not here right now but I remember her saying it seemed to affect the central display also.

Mine's been fine over the 2 years I've had it. No resets or anything

Have you tried rebooting the unit. I had trouble with mine and had it replaced but the same problem cropped up again. I found out how to reboot it and do that when I have problems and it always fixes the issue.

rebooting is a one-time thing during a session (i.e. driving). It won't solve the above situation.

I’ve had my touch screen take a minute or two to turn on before. It’s only happened twice in the three years I’ve owned the car. It straightens itself out on its own though so I haven’t bothered to investigate

Thanks, I'll check into that.

Mine quits all the time but magically starts working again if I shut off the car and restart. Garbage radios but what else can you do? You're stuck with the Nissan radio.
