Tune up for 2016 Maxima

Hello Everyone,

I am getting ready to do a tune up on my 16 Maxima and I just wanted to know if I'm missing something. I'm def a former Acura/Honda dude, so I'm well experienced with tune ups for those cars, but this is my first Nissan and I discovered there is a timing chain. So can someone tell me what are items I would need to complete this task. I have the water pump, spark plugs, coils for the plugs. What else will I need? I searched extensively for this before I posted, I didn't see anything in the 8th Generation Thread.

thanks you

I don't think you should mess with the water pump.

Coil packs? Maybe.

Fluids and filters, spark plugs, any gaskets on the intake you remove, clean the throttle body and mass air flow sensor.

Disagree in >>that if you change the serpentine external belt> which you should>>the water pump will fail soon after because the tightness of the belt will be different on the water pump shaft. Also, replace the tensioner pulley while you are at it and flush the system. New antifreeze rounds out this task. At 133 K you might as well.

2016 Maxima 3.5 water pump is not driven by the serpentine belt, is is driven by the timing chain.

That's not how our cars work so WTF?!?!?!?

BUT yes, a new serp belt and tensioner is not a bad idea.

Thanks Rick,

The water pump drive off the timing chain is a plus so I correct my earlier suggestion. Still, at 133 K miles, I'd change out the serpentine belt and its tensioner pulley and flush the and replace the antifreeze.

Thank you Everyone, for all of your suggestions. This is my first Nissan and its a lot different than Honda. I will be replacing all of this and do shocks and tires next.

Keep us posted on the work as you do it and the condition of the parts removed. Good luck
