ATT 3G shuts down today
So today is the day of the ATT 3G shutdown. Anyone notice anything one way or the other? I was able to start my car via the Nissan Connect app this morning around 8AM EST. I have not tried this afternoon.
And still crickets from Nissan about any replacement modules or alternatives.

I do not subscribe to Nissan connect anymore. But everything on my 2016 Plat is still working as of this afternoon. Nav and satellite radio are good and so is remote start from the key fob. I did perform a system diagnosis and now I have codes for the communication. But so far so good.

3G Update
Well, I think the 3G thing just bit my '17 Maxima SL today. My phone stopped communicating with my Max radio today; worked yesterday. My android phone picks up every Bluetooth device within 200', except the Max. Heck, I was just on the interstate and it picked up about 20 BT devices, including some guy's earbuds! Anyone heard of any fix Nissan may be working on? Now I'm going to have to fiddle with my phone while driving instead of just using the car's BT (yeah, I know, illegal). Of course, I can't play my phone's music on BT either. What a bummer. :-(

Mine stopped two days ago and I got my Nisan Connect cancellation letter today via email. I don't think BT should be affected by this as you have confirmed. But the shut down effects the emergency collision notification as well as the emergency call button. Doesn't that create some liability on Nissan if people bought these cars because they had these features and rely on them? Really surprised they have developed an replacement module for the 3G unit.

Something similar happened to C6 Vette owner's day-date reading when GM let their old GPS system become worthless after the USAF changed the clock signals from certain GPS satellites. For about 6 months our head unit screens would no longer show the day and date; just a reading like January 1, 9999, or something like this. There was a campaign initiated by Vette owners bombarding GM Corporative offices. After about 6 months GM gave in and created a downloadable update to our radios. Squeeky wheels often get the grease.
What I wonder though is if the upgrade needs to be a piece of hardware or just software or both. Fat chance they will appear soon if at all. What years are affected? 2018, 2017, 2016? Has anyone tried their SOS button just to see what they get?
Why wouldn’t a module, or whatever it’s called, from an ‘18 or later work in the models with a 3G? Seems that would be easy enough to replace as the cars haven’t changed, or am I missing something?
I am at my dealership today and ask the parts department about this. They looked at me like what the heck are you talking about. They had no clue. But there are signs around that seem to tie Nissan connect into the Sirius XM stuff so I’m wondering if a new radio head unit would be the thing that needs to be replaced. But as I said, no one here at this dealership has a clue.
A service manager just told me that he also believes the radio chip is part of the Radiohead unit that would have to be replaced. He did say that something called an OBD, whatever that is, can possibly be purchased by are use are from a third-party manufacture and use that to gain Wi-Fi. But he’s unsure and doesn’t think it likely that such a addition would allow Nissan connect to work. So it may be just getting a more recent head unit model.
I wonder if anybody who has updated their head units to get access to Apple play or android play has been able to notice if they’ve upgraded from a 3G to a 4G radio.
